I’d be surprised if Lewis and Bobb leave. I also think Pep would be happy for Gundogan to stay. I think Ilkay would be happy to make do with reduced game time would be good off of the pitch.

From what I can see, the squad is 7 or 8 players too many (Grealish Walker Phillips Mcatee Kovacic)

The W.C.C Squad is still far too big

Ederson, Ortega, bettinelli,

Ait nouri, Akanji, Ake, Dias, Gvardiol, Khusanov, Reis, Lewis, Stones,

Cherkie, Doku, Echeverri, Foden, Gundogan, Nico, Nunes, O'reilly, Reijnders, Rodri, Silva, Savinho,

Haaland, Marmoush,

Some players from the WCC squad will have to leave, and then (Grealish Walker Phillips Mcatee Kovacic)

That's what I was saying during the PL campaign. Made more sense to get players right for this tournament than chase shadows in the league, where there's only something like 5 million difference per place, if that.

I genuinely wondered at one point if we had deliberately thrown it halfway into the bad run, when it was clear we weren't going to win it rather than end up completely knackered at the end of the season going into this compo. I would have.
We needed a CL place. Our club is huge and has to be in CL every year.

Not sure what you’re on about.

As a team last night I thought we were excellent all over the pitch with lots of competition for each position. However Akanji has made it easier for Pep in selecting his defensive options by making himself last choice in that position.
The competition for places will make us so much better next season.

That was a great Indian restaurant in Timperley village, pity it is no longer there.
@Gray

The way they did a Chicken Madras was unique. Growing up in Timperley we were in there pretty much every week for many years. The boss man became a family friend. Then I moved to Leicester for work, and discovered their extended family lived there. Not surprising really!

Before it closed we used to pick a takeaway up then drive back to Leicester, after every home game. At the end of the season he took my address in Leicester so he could "send me something".

For the whole close season, every time one of his family members visited Leicester we got a knock on the door and was handed Chicken Madras for 4, with all the trimmings.

Top man.

Is the Hilal in Handforth still open?

Gone long ago. His last one was in Stockton Heath.

I think they’ll try to persuade Stones and Ake to leave simply because Pep doesn’t trust them to stay fit. Perhaps one of Khusanov or Reis will be loaned out.

Reviewing the highlights, I was struck by the reactions of the coaching team.
They seemed to be pleased that the players were doing what had been drilled into them in training. Maybe just my imagination but I thought there was a lot of acknowledgement of things going to plan and not just normal celebrations.
(There is a decent DAZN video showing the bench at each goal.)

That CWC squad still lacking a world class player or two in defence and midfield. If what you say is right I'd let Doku and Nico go. Nunes I'll give him a pass because he has improved. I'd like to keep Kova, he was class towards the end of last season and he might be even better after having his surgery. Tough to see who else should leave with the others you've suggested.

It’s a string renewal. Some great new players and some new coaches, hopefully really moves us in the right direction

Doku is going NOWHERE. Based on this tournament I think Lijnders will do for him what Arteta did for Sterling. Ait Nouri making a difference too
