Juventus UEFA Cup 1976/77

Dyed :-

The reason you remember the Milan game being played in the afternoon is because the match was originally due to be played on the Wednesday night but was called off due to fog. It was played on the Thursday afternoon instead.

We were 2-0 up in the first leg with not long left, and I think we'd have been at that stage the first away team to win at Milan in European competition (something like that, anyway). They came back at us with two late goals though, so we missed the record - even though it was a great result.

Thanks for that mate, the second part about the first team to win a european tie there ( before their late goals) I think is correct too, I definitely rememeber hearing on the commentary.

sadly i wasn't even 1 yr old when this was played

looks like i will be seeing more of the same very, very soon though

happy time's.

I was there they kicked the crap out of us.

Did the same against the rags in the next round. The media only then made comments on the dirty play.

Remember the away leg. Sold the new tv and glass coffee table to go . Told the wife the dog had knocked the tv onto the table and smashed them both. (naughty dog ).
Straight there on plane, then coach to the ground. Not many City fans so picked an empty seat with no one for miles near me. Italian guy comes over and says im sitting in his seat .So moved behind him and starts singing. (he moved.)
Returning on the coach some of the fans took those white covers off the head rests and wore them as hats. We were rounded up by Italian police with machine guns and not allowed to leave until all covers had been returned.
Got the ticket for the game somewhere , sure the name of the ground started with the letter C. Then again I'm old.
Arrived at work the next day knackered. (Renold Chain, Burnage) some of the lads put me in a packing case and covered for me all day so I could get a kip.

my dad got sent out to turin to do a job for his works for the away leg and i went with him and he took me to the game, which was my 1st european awy game as an 11yr old kid,we got beat 2-0

Fantastic story! Really enjoyed reading that. Have always regretted that I was too young to go away when we [played in Europe in the late sixties and seventies. :)

You're right about the name of the ground btw - was the Stadio Communale in those days, but is now called the Stadio Olimpico after holding the opening and closing ceremonies for the Winter Olympics in 2006 or whenever it was. Juve and Torino both shared the Communale, and both moved to the Stadio delle Alpi in 1990 (it was built for the 1990 World Cup).

They both moved out of the highly unpopular delle Alpi in the last few years while the stadium is knocked down and a new one built with no track. In the meantime, both clubs are playing at the Olimpico. I think (not 100% sure) that Juve are moving to the new stadium when it's ready next year while Toro are staying at the Olimpico.

Anyway, our tie against Juve is at the Olimpico which means we're playing again at the same stadium as in 1976. Holds less than 30K now, though, so we probably won't get many tickets.

Thanks for that DP. Thought my memory was playing tricks.
Bad result, but when my wife found out from one of my so called mates she didn't talk to me for ages. So something good came out of it. God works in mysterious ways.

Hats off mate, absolute classic - pmsl you are indeed A (True) Blue

Thanks GHT. Fame at last. One day I may tell the tales of the BLOODY HAND of FILBERT STREET or about the three naked City fans in a Laundrette on the way to West Ham.
