do you rate Ottomendi and Stones better than Maguire? I certainly dont. Im not saying I would have him but he is better than those two for sure.

He is nowhere near as good as Laporte is and Kompany was however

BUT we do have an issue of our own with quality in defence

The only 3 id say i would keep definitely are Walker, Laporte and Garcia - the rest could be sold and need significant improvement on. Hell Id take the lad utd have got playing at left back over Mendy!

I remember in the early days of the Champions League, when we seemed to play Napoli every year, he used to bring the ball out of defence very confidently and looked very much an imposing player as Van Dijk was/is.

100% a Pep player.

Not replacing Vinnie was neglectful by Pep and the board, who placed a lot of confidence in Stones and Otamendi; neither are in the same ballpark as Kompany when it comes to performance levels, inspiration and leadership, which we desperately need.

I don't know much more about Koulibaly, but if he does come, I hope he will be a leader like Vinnie was and Van Dijk is. THAT is what City missed massively last year. Those types of players earn you 10-15 points just by their sheer presence on the field, they are priceless.

If he is, I would not hesitate to make him captain.

Its okay saying you have a rapid forward line who score lots of goals, but all teams need a leader.
