Ahsan seems to be friends with people like Lu Martin, Pol Ballus and Marti Perarnau - all friends of Pep's and very in with the catalans at the club. He seems to be pretty well informed all round, don't think he's got a direct line to Khaldoon but he clearly knows a few people around the club.

Jack Gaughan writes for the Mail but has a pretty good record on getting the club briefings and the official line on things.

To be honest everyone is saying the same thing about Koulibaly - he wants to come and the club want him - so its a pretty safe bet.

If we pay £60-70m and in that 4 years we get 2-3 prems, 5-6 domestic cups and a champions league or two then it'll be a great investment.

4 years is eternity in football and by then there should be good young CBs to replace him.

Sometimes you just need that instant impact, especially as right now there are not great young CBs around really.

To be fair we should have had the same scenario once Kompany left. We had ten years to earmark his replacement. Regardless, I'd still get Koulibaly in at any cost.

Not defensive at all. I simply asked the question of the poster proclaiming Maguire was a quality player.
