Reckon we’ll pay for Koulibaly because he’s what we need. He has the right combination of attributes we are seeking. He also brings much needed Champions League experience, which if Otamendi and Stones leave, we’ll be short of in the centre. Ake and Garcia have none, currently, and Laporte only has 15 games. Other players that are mentioned just don’t have that experience.

We need a new Colossus, someone who will hold it together when we’ve lost a goal and are shaking at places like Anfield. All of the things you list in your second paragraph are the very attributes Koulibaly brings, which is why he has done so well at Napoli. He’s been coached by Ancelotti, Benitez, and Sarri, to name a few, so he’s got it upstairs to play the technical game and has the humility that Guardiola so prizes.

I have no idea but that is what our scouts should be doing, every year we are linked with the latest must have player and when we they go elsewhere the following year there are a new crop of must have players. Why were we not picking up on this guy last year when we knew Kompany was going?
