Kalidou Koulibaly

His defenders are making all sorts of excuses - not just about last night but about his season.

Off form? Head’s gone? Wants out? Playing against Messi? Maybe OK for a youngster but not for a 29-year old club record signing who will cost north of £60m.

Can’t remember exactly, but I think they were already two down at that point and nobody in the midfield was showing the same desire. To me it showed leadership and probably a desire to atone.

Walker often does similar in games. He chases/sprints deep into the opposition half to drag a man back or push a midfielder outside his comfort zone. It‘s a psychological marker to intimidate the opposition and gee up the crowd. Don’t think Guardiola opposes it as long as someone drops to cover.
Yeah Walker does it when there is space to run into, which usually happens when we play around the press well where the opposition leaves gaps so he can advance the ball. I don't recall it with the CB's too often. In any case KK isn't too bad with his feet as some people were saying. He does pass the ball relatively well. If he were to come there would be learning process and everyone will moan the moment he messes up. In all honesty it's not an easy system and takes time to get a grip of.

It’s interesting everybody is now in doubt over Koulibalys quality just because he wasn’t at his best against Barca and Messi last night.

So he’s had a mediocre season. Everyone knows what kind of defender this is. Just look at him against Liverpool last year. The quality doesn’t just disappear over night. He is still a beast of a defender and he would be incredible for us. The only challenge is trying to get the fee down to an acceptable level, but I have no doubt City are after him and will try to bring him in.

We’ve had a comparatively poor season and need to move on Stones and Otamendi, who have not had their best seasons, so we know we’ll not get their market value. We’re still cash strong and in the Champions League next season, however.

The club cannot get Stones and Otamendi to the next level but can get Koulibaly there. If that’s who they want, get him.

We don't do mediocre signings, that's the rags department.

Alot of you have a go at Harry Maguire on here by the sounds of it, but he was Pep's choice last season and he's one of the most solid defenders around regardless of the criticism on here. Yet, because he plays for United there's so many on here slating him.

He's definitely improved United defensively and is a leader from the back. Pep knows exactly what he is doing, make no mistakes about it.
That’s all right then. Why should anyone challenge it?

Bit crazy that some folk are writing him off but raving about Ake. One just lost to Barca in CL and has won the Italian cup the other just got relegated with Bournemouth. Not got much of an issue with Ake btw just saying Koulibaly is another level
Their relative prices are on another level too,
