Kalidou Koulibaly

Just to add to what @tolmie's hairdoo has said. This is on like Donkey Kong. He is our number one transfer window target in the CB position and he wants to come.

Negotiations will be interesting but I think it’s happening now. A full on Pep request. Be nice if this window ends up being a bit like summer 2017.

Does @Ezzy know your saying this

A back 3 of Koulibaly, Laporte and Walker would be very impressive imo.

Get Dinho back into midfield as well, I know Pep said he won't be he should do it and bring back Tosin as back up.

I Don't think Laurentis is gonna be a prick about this one I couldn't see him jerking us around for a second time. It would send a bad message to anyone doing business with them. I think this will be more straightforward given Napoli's financial situation.

He has just turned 29.

In case anyone is worried about his age, Ramos is 34, Pique is 33, Thiago Silva is 35, plenty more examples, all still playing at a very high level with barely any dips.

Center backs can play for way longer at the top level than midfield or forwards. I'm expecting atleast 5 years of world class out of him, and 2 more of just a great player who then retires.

Basically subtract his age by like 4 years, so 25, that's his "age equivalent" to buying a forward, which is Sterling's age.

Cannavaro captained Italy to a World Cup win and won a Balon D’or at 33 years of age also.

Stones is a sick note, that's the main problem. Another thing is that Stones' wages will be preventative. He'll be on something like 120k pw whereas maguire and Chilwell would be on /been on ~60k I would guess.

He may be willing to lower his wages to guarantee first team football in a euros season.

£40m is fantasy land stuff for Stones given what the market is likely to look like this summer. Can’t stay on the pitch, downward trajectory both professionally and personally since the 100 point season, and going to need a new contract that’s at least somewhat comparable to City wages. Who’s going to spend a big chunk of their limited budget on this player? He’s gonna be back next year.

That's why I suggested Newcastle, we all know how we had to overspend to progress quicker at the start.

@BillyShears is there a concern regarding being unable to shift the CB deadwood and that might prevent us from buying?
Also, going back to Napoli after the Jorginho debacle will be difficult. Are City willing to do that?

I think Txiki must know he can do something with Otamendi and Stones or this wouldn't be on the cards. Also, Jorginho not joining was hardly Napolis fault he personally pulled the plug and moved to Chelsea. We spent all summer posturing of course to do the deal but can't blame Napoli for wanting as much as they can out of it, it was then agreed and Jorginho pulled it.
