Kalidou Koulibaly

What date is the Champions League final?
I’m just assuming we will kick out Madrid and Juve. I want to know when we can start dealing with this guy because it ain’t happeing until UCL is over, or atleast until Napoli is knocked out.

I do think we could get Koulibaly for around 65m, and by sendig a player in their direction. Napoli would never settle for 65m up front and I doubt City will pay 80m.

maybe 65m and zinchenko

with their chairman i doubt it!

Any chairman is only as strong as the position he finds himself. As I explained in the Aouar thread, there’s method in our dealings this summer. Napoli find themselves in a considerably weaker position than when they wanted to squeeze us for Jorginho, so barring a miracle and they win the CL, I think it’s time for us to squeeze.

You're wishing away the latter stages of the Champions League because you're more interested in a potential signing?

If we bring him in, I hope that we also bring in another decent centre back - someone like Ake.
Sell stones and otamendi.
Then play laporte and koulibaly in nearly every game with garcia and Ake being the back ups.
Ferna back into midfield
Pep and Txiki must have been reading this forum (p85).

I am all for that, that was a dirty stunt they pulled with Jorginho which blew up in Chelsea’s face.

The more i look into it the more I think this deal will happen at our terms and our terms only. There are two possible outcomes from here :
1) Napoli go on a rampage and with Koulibaly on the helm go on and reach the UCL final. In that case, ADL will definitely go ahead and ask for some crazy 150 mils for KK and we would say no
2) Napoli very limply go out of UCL in the coming week. In that case, ADL has a depreciating asset in this book with no ticket money and already having spent a lot on transfers. Then he will accept what City has to offer and we get our player

There is also a third case where ADL keeps on haggling for money and the transfer never happens and we go deep into September without a defender. But the noise coming out of City is that they know how ADL is (having gotten their hands burnt quite a few times) and it won't happen again.
The rumours of other defenders are surfacing too. So we may go for Carlos or Ruben or Pau Torres

So using 10,000 words, you think they will get knocked out of CL

To be fair to that goon, we enabled the stunt.

Napoli named a price. We agreed terms with the player, we offered close to the price, but refused to go the last little bit to complete it, because we were convinced the player only wanted us and we could push that and wait all summer. Player than went on holiday, chelsea changed a manager, his head turned, chelsea offered what Napoli were asking. Be bloody silly not to accept it. It was the player that messed us over, more than the club. To me that doesn't mean we wouldn't do business with them, as painful as it seemed, we were just as stubborn as they were. Part of the transfer game.

Agree though, backfired on both the player and chelsea.

May be a bit of a controversial one but I’m not convinced by this transfer if it happens. Nothing to do with age or anything like that but from when I’ve watched him - against us, Arsenal and against Juve etc. He genuinely didn’t stand out, especially against arsenal where Lacazette and Aubameyang ripped him to shreds.
Worried he could flop, big time, in this league.

Glad we got Ake then!

I'm sure Koulibaly will still be better than Otamendi even if he isn't as amazing as we hope.

From what I'm reading on valuations Tolmie says we won't go above £65m and they're holding out for €80m (about £73m).

So it seems like a repeat of situations in the past where we've reached an impasse and won't budge.

Hopefully once CL is out of the way we just meet the valuation quickly.

This is just a face off between Txiki and Napoli, could do with Barca turning them over to limit their CL income just that little bit more. We could see another Jorginho where a team comes in and just pays the 80 odd but thats looking unlikely.

I very much doubt there will be a queue at £65m let alone £80m. We need to sit tight and wait for Napolis CL exit and keep other targets warm just in case.
