Kalidou Koulibaly

I would rather comment on the players we normally target. Most of the players are those who are the next big things in football and hence the prices quoted are high.
We hardly target unpolished gems with zero competition where the deal would be very straight forward. Like the LB liverpool signed. Never heard the name before. But 11m would be a great price if he turns out half as good as Robertson.
One of the things that irritates me with some of our fans, they seem to think we HAVE to have "world class players" in every position.
As you say,and I`m not his greatest admirer as an individual, but as a player what a fucking bargain Robertson was for the Scousers.
I could never understand why we didn`t go for him when he was at Hull. When we played them in the Cup the lad was outstanding at the Etihad and for £8M was well worth a punt.

City have backed out apparantly because the price is too high. Ruban Dias from Benfica is the target if you want value for money.

Exactly. We don't seem to be very adventurous in this aspect. Maybe it is scouting or something else. We do tend to buy a lot of young South American players but they never seem to see the light of the day. Yan Cunto is supposed to be great.
We do make a lot of money on selling those players at profit. But the point is lost if we make some 100 mil here and then go ahead and spend that on Mendy or Stones or Cancelo. Even Ake!

I do not want a fading player on a record fee and record wages but Zinchenko would be a beast in Italy

I’m talking Euros, not pounds, and he’d only be a record fee if you valued Zinchenko much higher. As for his wages, I’m sure that would be negotiated and pegged to performance/success. We’re currently fielding a 35 year-old in that position, so his age doesn’t concern me.

It is going to be our record fee, and his wages will be the same as KDB`s as he has not said he wants to leave, the 35 year old has earned his fee and wages whilst here, i dislike paying records out for the good times other fans have enjoyed

So, in the current climate you think we’ll drop over €70m cash on a player? Napoli’s deal for Osimhen was reportedly their biggest ever outlay- what fans love to hear- but it was revealed last week that there was very little cash involved, multiple players were sent to Lille, and more money would arrive in time, likely the time he reaches his state pension age. We’re not going to be paying a huge cash fee.
Nobody with an ounce of sense/survival would publicly say he wanted to leave Napoli/Naples. ;-)

I do hope your right Koulibaly at around £50 million for a 3 year improvement maybe worth it, and i do think Zinchenko would love the Italian style

Don't want this guy at all, £90M is way too much for a player who needs to adapt to a new country and a new language and a new manager with unique requirements, and will be over 30 by the time he understands what is being asked of him.

I don't care how good he is at doing what is asked of him at his current club, I'd rather keep Stones.

It’s never been about 90 million pounds. Of course the club wouldn’t pay that.
One or two years ago that fee would’ve been realistic.

City have backed out apparantly because the price is too high. Ruban Dias from Benfica is the target if you want value for money.

Source? If it’s The Sun, I could’ve might as well made it up myself.

I honestly wouldn’t know any CB besides Koulibaly and De Ligt who could show leadership and have immediate impact on our backline. None of Carlos, Skriniar or Dias are convincing me. I just hope the club get it right this time. We can’t afford another Stones.

How many do you want?
Express, Mail, Various sports gossip sites.
Google is your friend.

Our relationship with Napoli is non existent which further complicates the issue.

There we go :)

The Sun, Express, Daily Mail I believe are the least reliable transfer sites. Fabrizio Romano, The Telegraph, BBC Sport, Guardian Sport are the most reliable. If they say we’ve let go of this transfer then we probably have.

If City really want KK they will work it out. This is Napolis last chance to get decent money from him. I still believe it’s on. I thought I read a few days ago City and Napoli have a scheduled meeting this week.

I'm betting this happens still. It makes sense for Napoli to sell and we might be the only game in town.
Agree. Things are moving along slowly for weeks, Napoli get knocked out of the CL, and suddenly in the week where negotiations can start in earnest, we’re no longer interested.Part of the game.
We need him, they need money/players more, and there won’t be many with cash to spend. I await ‘that lot‘ being quoted as offering an amazing deal for him but one that involves players and very little cash. However, Napoli have signed a number of players already so need the cash more.

Yep, big time coincidence that the Monday after Napoli get knocked out and negotiations can step up we’re no longer interested. Sure thing.
