Kalidou Koulibaly

Lille turned down a 20m euro (£18.1m) offer from Everton for defender Gabriel, 22, because they have an agreement to sell him to Napoli, despite Arsenal and Manchester United also showing interest in the Brazilian. (Gianluca di Marzio)

Lets get this man

Personally I think the whole "What's the player's strongest foot" discussion is overblown and doesn't really matter.

Having said that, this transfer just has the feeling of a massive flop to me. A player who's clearly on a downward trajectory after a poor season at an age where players start to decline. Huge fee, and it's no longer a guaranteed world class player. Let's say he performs poorly next season for us - what are the odds he turns it around? There's too many risks involved with this player, not least of them the transfer fee, to me.

I'd absolutely love it if we could get Upamecano. A much smarter buy, to me.

21 year old Upamecano has one good game against a super defensive side with a 31 year old past it Diego Costa leading the attack and automatically he’s the answer to all of problems. Hahah

Get real. Koulibaly is twice the player.

Wouldn’t want Bayern sniffing his bollocks in a year or two either

Kalidou Koulibaly to Manchester City , here we go! Total agreement for €58M + €15M add ons. He’ll join City on next week also with medicals and official announcement @DiMarzio @SkySport #MCFC #Koulibaly

tweeted by someone called @FabrizIORomano sorry don’t know how to do the link and if he’s reliable

You may be right but I suspect Upamecano’s ceiling is higher. I’m a fan of Ake but I would have preferred Upamecano and Koulibaly.

Just some idiot impersonating Fabrizio Romano who is an Italian journalist.

What ever, lol.

This needs to be properly analyzed before we go and spend big on this guy.

The way we defend will make any defender in the world looking like shit.

a 29 year old who will start to get slower soon in a much quicker league than Serie A with zero resale value in 3 years in a team where there are next to nothing help from defensive midfield...

We might be putting extreme amount of pressure on Koulibaly to fill a gap which gap is caused by the tactics and our pressing and off the ball workrate, discipline from attackers, midfielders, fullbacks not only CB's...

Clearly Pep does not trust Stones and Otamendi anymore. But I am 100% sure Koulibaly will look worse in a defence like ours then in a defence like Napoli who play slower football, are hit much less with counters as they play less attacking football than us, in a much slower league and with more help provided for defenders than here where Gundogan is hardly helping hile Rodri is just not a top class DM who is screening defences.

Please tell me, who would you recommend then
