Kalidou Koulibaly

Surely there is no way we sign him for what Napoli wants. What an utter joke that would be. Play hardball for over a month, go into a season without a capable right sided defender and then decide now we want to pay up.

I won't criticize City if this deal falls through because of valuation differences but surely we should've had a replacement lined up.
I don't think there are any world class quality options available but for 20-30m you could've got a promising young CB at least (like Gabriel now at Arsenal for example) and you never know how they turn up. If they don't turn up so good then a year later we can go back in the market and the CB bought this year would just be a back up option to replace Garcia/Stones/Fernandinho.

By the time Koulibaly loses pace we won't need to worry about him, just need 4-5 solid years from him. Gimenez more room for improvement and get good years but too injury prone already for a 25 year old with a price tag to be about €94m.

30+ is where you start noticing physical decline

Not necessarily, a lot of players play there best football at 28+ till about 34-35. So many examples of it. And centre backs usually have longevity compared to players in other positions.
