Specifically to City too
Tbf the article also suggests he wants to stay at Leeds and Leeds are confident he will sign a new deal now they have survived. Guess things will become clearer after England matches are out the way

Something that seems to have gone largely unnoticed when talking about what we (I'm a Leeds fan) would want for Kalvin Phillips is that we rejected an offer of around £55mil for Kalvin from West Ham in January.

And he has reiterated on multiple occasions he doesn't want to leave and has never asked to leave.

So with that in mind we can demand an absolute premium for a player who would also benefit from the well known English player tax and it would probably take well over £55mil in the massively inflated domestic market.

If Declan Rice is over £100mil then KP (who was named England's best player of 2021) should be much closer to that then he is the £35mil I've seen mentioned.

Our owner has mentioned before that sales will be necessary at times but with Raphinha going to Barcelona in all likelihood (if they also realise we rejected a similar £50+mil offer for Raph in January and so they need to vastly up there bids) then we will be under no pressure financially to sell KP either.

So with all that being said we are very well positioned to play hardball I'd think and I'd guess the fee required would be substantial and likely more than you paid for Rodri.

£70mil minimum is my guess and I don't know if you'd pay that.
How long has Philips got on his contract?

On another note, players expressing a wish to stay put is something you should look at pragmatically. I've seen players saying the same to us, then running down their contracts & leaving on a free or for a lot less than a new/mid contract fee.

Getting the feeling this guy is going to cost a BOMB

More I hear the less I want him, got to be options out there that tick our boxes....I mean he's not nearly as bad as some are making out but given this guy could cost upwards of £50mil there has to be better deals
Tolmie and DD both said there’s a clause around 35, so no he won’t cost a BOMb

No offense Pablo, but firstly there is no way Phillips is worth anything over 50m and that’s if we disregard that two of most reliable people on here are saying there a clause and it’s a matter of time before he joins.

all it takes is the player to accept the move and the clause is there, just like with Grealish.
