He is a talent but he is years off the first team level, he needs to be playing regularly at a much higher level, probably a championship club.
I genuinely think in the 'easier' / Cup games he'd do a good job,but Id be more than happy with a Championship loan. One thing is certain....playing in our EDS is not the level for him anymore.

Totally agree but it's a major problem for top young talent at huge, successful clubs.

Only the generational talents will get a chance and the others either have to get a loan or leave and take their chances elsewhere.

I agree with Pep/Ferran that B teams playing the the pro leagues is the answer or certainly a hugely better opportunity for the young players.

I know he is a good player, but I don't want him. If rather wait a year and try to get Bellingham

Why would anyone care if he’s £25 or £50 mill? It’s City’s job to balance the books. As long as he improves us, and he would, that’s all that matters.
Think you're missing the gripe

It's not that I care that we are spending £50mil

Fuck it...I'd like for us to spend £400mil this summer just to blow the world away

But this whole thread is about our views on transfers

And some people are going to complain that we are spending too much on someone who, to me and a lot of others, is fairly average

The man is worth less than £50mil, just like Jack was worth less than £100mil (and that Ake was worth less than £40mil)....we have been burnt recently by buying in League and had those fees been better utilised we may have a better squad (obviously yes the squad is unreal but we're still missing that champions league)

Talking hypotheticals....we would have spent £150mil on Jack and Phillips. For that we could've got Luis Dias (£45mil), Camavinga (£40mil) and had enough yo buy Cucurella and it'll be still less than those two

It's not about whether we care about the club spending money, it's just we want to try get the best bang for our buck

For the record, I think £35mil it's a good deal but for £50mil there are better and younger players we could and should be targetting

Unless you're actually providing examples of us being burn't so that we can judge who you're actually referring to, just saying that "we have" doesn't make it so.

I also don't think it's fair to simply say "we could have got x and y". We may have never been in for them to start with, they may have no desire to even play for us either. By your logic we could conceivably say why did we buy Alvarez when we could have got Mbappe, ignoring the fact that he had a desire only to play for Madrid - and even then he reneged on that!

Not speaking hypotheticals here, but actual transfers, for the price of Luis Diaz we actually bought Ferran and Alvarez! So your point is somewhat moot really as we actually do make these successful frugal transfers. One player which we've flipped and doubled our money on, and the other who looks like a great prospect. In Fact Ferran (153) has a better goals to minutes ratio in the Premier League this year then your boy Diaz (241). We do actually get the bang for your buck we desire...

No one cares about fees, it's just that if we are willing to spend that amount there are better players than him

I don't think our club give a single f about this, they will do whatever they want.

Me too i don't give a shit, as long they can improve our team winning many title they can do whatever they want.
