First or all, have you been following Real Madrid’s squad? Secondly, it’s only “one available position” if you have a narrow tactical mind.
You are also comparing completely different teams. There aren’t “backups” in our team as there are in Liverpool’s. This isn’t how our squad ia built conceptually. Hence why it is smaller than everyone else’s but also why the average quality is also higher and why we can’t afford drop offs in quality
Yeah I agree. City are pretty unique in this respect very low numbers very high quality.

There will always be a preferred choice on different occasions but the term “back up” I don‘t think is correct.

which is wrong. They also have Grealish at 105.75m. Site isnt accurate.
It's essentially updated by volunteers (a little like wikipedia), with the assumption that enough sources will get it right, but a lot of the contributors are quite open about it not being a 100% reliable source.

There was an interview with a guy who leads on most German transfers and he said he's amazed that quite large clubs use the data when working out values of players, as it's mostly him guessing (based on as many sources as he can find).

However, it is the best source around, even if far from perfect. I consider it approximately useful - Just don't bet your life in an argument based on the data.

ps. don't trash it completely - it's quite possible this Summer that in the 5 year net spend chart, Liverpool will overtake City ;)

In City backup doesn't exist. Why are people talking about backup when we have the thinnest squad in the league? We need to have a HUGE QUALITY midfielder not fuckin back-up. We need something that would be a competition for all the midfielders, no backup. Is Real, Liverpool, or the other top clubs buying backups? I don't think so. "RODRI'S BACK UP" is the most deluded sentence about the potential midfielder transfer.

OK, it wouldn't be your and my problem if Rodri gets injured, but a BIG PROBLEM for the club and I think everyone will be happy with Gundogan as a 6 and zero defensive awareness in midfield :) Amazing. Buying DM is a priority. If Rodri gets injured we have ZERO OPTIONS, coz Gundogan is not an option.

We have had a year to prepare for Fernandinho's leaving.
You sound surprised, how long did it take to replace Aguero and Kompany?

I know they are usually 5% ish either way. Its a good rule of thumb but not accurate.

Rodri was a release clause at 62.6 both La liga and City reported it.

Transfermarkt have jack at 105 for some reason, haaland is 67 etc

Is it just me or does it feel like we're stockpiling English talent? Reckon there could be some changes to the homegrown rule in the future? It just seems odd that we're spending so much on English players when there could be cheaper foreign players
I think there was a time around Brexit where this could have been true but not now. England just happen to have some very good players right now plus it can help if the core comes from a similar culture like the Barca team of 2012

The chairman told us, if the player they want, or suitable alternative isn't available. we'll wait and trust Pep to do his thing. It's worked.

I hope we are. I don’t think it’s odd at all. Some of the best players right now are English and we should always have a core of English players

Again: is an important website making mistakes on purpose? Are you a transfer insider that you know more than them?

I guess Haaland may be the original fee that everyone was quoting - it was only when City had agreed that the lower figure came out.

There must also be issues with Euro/£ exchanges on the site, unless it works everything based on the exchange rate at the time of the transfer.
