We don't need to be selling him a role as a sub. Jesus was our 13th most used outfield player this season. At Leeds he'd have been 5th.

There are only 8 players at Leeds who played more than HALF the minutes of Cancelo did this year, and one of them only scraped past half-a-Cancelo by about 5 minutes over the season!

The main thing is that he fulfils the Yorkshire quota, which we’ve been a player down on since Delph left. We’re now adding Haaland and Phillips to really strengthen our Yorkshire position, with Stones and Walker already at the club. This must be a good thing.

His stats look awful. Camavinga has cost Real 30m€, Guimaraes Newcastle 40m€. SERIOUSLY, we cannot find a better player than this a little bit of lazy signing?

Depends what stats you are looking at?

For all of the "defensive" ones he is basically in the top percentiles. He is also playing in a crap team fighting relegation, not sure what you expect his stats to show.

I don't think hes really kicked on in the last 18mths but I massively believe that anyone joining this squad, immediately goes up a few levels and after that its normally always a success.

I would presume there’s a clause. Sounds like someone close to the player is talking. To reiterate I think he’ll be a top signing. I remember when we signed Gundo and Ferna there was a similar level of negativity. Not saying Phillips will have that type of impact but he has the potential to.

Release Clause FC - works for me. I fancied it less when it could possibly be a giant chunk of change. £35m would be decent enough
