Not good enough for us. If we are going to spend more than 35m£ on him, it's ridiculous. We can find a way better player if we will scout around Europe. Typical Beguirstain - no negotiations, but release clauses.

Or maybe there is a plan within the club. We have a stated objective to have home grown players. The best two English defensive midfielders are him and Rice (Bellingham a prospect) - the most achievable for a sensible price is Phillips, a player who has excelled on the international stage whilst playing for a basket case club.

If the rumors are true that he has a cheap release clause, he has many options from which to choose his next club. Will he really come to City as a backup for Rodri?

Depends on what he wants, the chance to win medals (Ake) or to play week in week out. It worked out alright for Delph who ended up playing regular in a unfamiliar position before he came.

Pep doesn't treat the squad as 1st team & squad players so if he excels it puts pressure on Rodri.

He's more progressive than Rodri (although now Rodri's a goal scoring machine, maybe that's no so true), and could well do a similar role to the Berni box to box we've seen a lot of this season.

And bear in mind, Leeds played 42 games this season, whereas City played 58, and that includes lots of big glamour ties. I'd expect him to get regular games across a few positions, and maybe not be far off the minutes he gets for Leeds.

Fight another relegation battle with Everton and Aston Villa or play in the Champions League with City under the greatest manager of all time. Tough one that.

Why, where should he come? Our midfield trio is the best in the world, there's pretty much no one else who could fit in there!
