Am sure proper trophies as well is what he will be looking at? Leeds are going to be lucky if they stay up again next season let alone win anything?!

The key thing is it's not a club that Leeds will view as a 'rival'. I can see why they'd baulk at the idea of selling to Villa or even Everton. But City are in a different universe. It's hard to stand in the way of a player if they say they want to go and the buying club is in the position City are in to offer trophies, best coach in the world etc.

His contract is also up in 2024 so value will drop anyway naturally? Plus, City are not hanging around this summer as we desperately need a DM so I’m sure he will be warned it’s a one off chance which may never happen again, never with us!

Brighton got £50m for Ben White. Phillips has more England caps and is a more important player to us than White was for Brighton.

Mate - with respect, it doesn’t matter what you think he’s worth, and nor does it matter what a bunch of City fans on a forum think he’s worth either.

It’s a predictable phenomenon every summer when we’re trying to buy a player that fans of their current teams come on here making apparently hardline, inflexible valuation statements as if they’re somehow involved in the negotiations, and they’re trying to get us to agree with their position as if this has any bearing on the deal.

You’re always going to over-value the player, and we’re going to undervalue him. Because we see it solely from the position of our own clubs interests, and don’t really give a shit about the other side.

But none of it matters in the end.

Leeds will have their valuation, and City will also have their own valuation. If the two Clubs can find a meeting point somewhere in the middle they can both be relatively happy with - it’ll happen. And if they can’t - it won’t.

There really isn’t any point any of us lot bigging up our apparently inflexible positions on here. It means absolutely nothing to the final valuation.

The reality is there must be enough belief that a common ground can be reached for negotiations to at least be happening.

All the rest is nothing more than hyperbolic hot air!

End of the day Leeds don’t need to sell so they won’t be lo-balled by us but if the lad wants to go and it is by no means certain he does then we will be a good fit for him and him for us . I do think this one needs to happen soon though .

Leeds will recruit well this summer infact they have already started and they will stay up easy .

Phillips will be a great signing gives us physicality in midfield

I knew it would come back into fashion one day

Just need to lose 3 stone to get it on
Is that why you keep it in your sauna?

I just don't see him in midfield for us. I think it's more likely that Foden or Grealish play there. I don't remember the same desire for Zinchenko to play midfield before his good performance last night and I doubt one performance against a poor Scotland will change Guardiola's thinking.

In all of the years he's been at the club, I can't remember Zinchenko playing in midfield more than a couple of times. I'd rather have Cancelo and Walker for the RB slot and Zinchenko fighting for the LB position with a new signing.

I hope he doesn't leave as he's a decent LB and can cover a midfield position in an emergency but if he stays, his games will most likely be at LB. I suspect that he will leave though if we bring in another player for that position.
Would like Zinchenko to stay as well. On that we agree but I’ll have to disagree on just one good performance in midfield for Ukraine. He’s done it on numerous occasions for his country. What’s that saying… ‘you can only beat what is in front of you’…

Nonetheless, you are right in indicating that there are more talented options for the midfield positions at City. Regardless, you need someone like Zinchenko in the squad.

Looks like a more difficult deal to get done now they’ve stayed up. He‘s an important player for Leeds and they would quite rightly be reluctant to see him go, and rather move others on and build around him and Raphinha…

I hope we don’t waste too much time trying to make a deal with a club that don’t want to sell and instead quickly move on to other targets.
