Wish he would deliver a masterclass tonight and stick it up the naysayers. C’mon City !
Nah, he knew this summer that Guardiola didn’t rate him, we intended to sign a new CM and he had offers to leave permanently and on loan.Feel a bit for Phillips tonight ( Yes I know he’s well paid etc etc).
Don’t think any City’s player performance will be scrutinised so much as his tonight.
And In a tough away match where we are likely play a much changed weakened team. Phillips will never be a Rodri (who can be) but I hope if we lose he’s not made a scapegoat.

He didn’t want to move on - fine, the club gave him the contract so can’t blame him for sticking to it - but I won’t feign sympathy when it’s pointed out that Guardiola doesn’t rate him and he’s not good enough to play the system.
I don’t feel that sorry for him personally - I think it’s better for him to have a crunch point like tonight where he can either show that he deserves his place in the squad, and he shows that he could become a viable option, or he knows that he’s best moving elsewhere.Feel a bit for Phillips tonight ( Yes I know he’s well paid etc etc).

This was interesting tweet about Phillips and players who play in team with certain style. Impact it has on career…
Pep has said he's not good enough to get the best out of Phillips. I don't know if Pep meant that or not.Nah, he knew this summer that Guardiola didn’t rate him, we intended to sign a new CM and he had offers to leave permanently and on loan.

Exactly. He has been okay. But a bit underwhelmingFor me he’s not asking for the ball as much or been more pro active, he seems static without the ball, still solid but he’s not offering for the ball or taking charge like he should in that position.
