Kalvin Phillips

He did ok.....but he is miles off the quality we need.

Look at the difference with Kovacic and Nunes, both on a different level, the one required.....they ooze ability and reliability and already look like they are part of the furniture.

He was ok. He did some good things and some sloppy things. It is pretty obvious that some are watching him with a view to highlighting every error but we cannot have 22 superstars. He'll get the chance in some cup games and, hopefully, he will grow in confidence and ability because the fact is that he is staying, and we may well need him to.

And the same posters will continue to find fault and try and be their usual smartarse selves - so predictable .

He put in a shift in difficult conditions today. Credit to him for that. His decision making is so poor. He's not an asset but I'm not sure he's the complete liability some think. Honestly fuck knows!

As an aside, Bernardo Nunes Kovacic is the best midfield 3 in the league. We're missing 2 of our best players and still have the best midfield. That's insane.

Even if Philips is going away either in january or next summer, the same fucking poster will move to next player to get slagged off and i bet it's going to be Grealish again.

Some people really need to be a fucking miserable twats so they can function as living being in their everyday life.

So far on this forum anyone who criticises a player is a know nothing, part time supporter. Phillips wil not be here in the next 18 months, he's a decent footballer but footballers find their level and Phillips has surpassed his, leeds, Everton, West ham, Fulham are his level in my opinion, not Manchester City. I've seen some dross since 1984 so am in a position to speak on this as a suffering city fan, then the glory years. As long as my arse points down and theirs some knob heads on this site he will not make it in THIS team. 15yrs ago he'd be the best player in the team, he isn't quick enough in foot or thought to make it now. Nunes has come in (I didn't rate him at wolves) and looks like he's played here for ages, Phillips looks like he won a competition.

So your arse isn't only for shitting through then.

Yawn

Seriously doubt it in the PL, nothing suggests that will happen.
It was interesting he was brought on today, but we were 2 up with few options.
Feel for the lad - hope he gets a full 90 midweek and shows what he's about

He will start the cup game if he does well he might get picked for the wolves game!

Can’t really judge him on the basis of a half playing with ten men in a team with no discernible midfield shape. That said, if he is to have a long-term future with us, then the next three/four games could be pivotal, forgive the pun. A midfield of Phillips, Kovacic, and Nunes will take time to gel, and four games on the road is far from ideal, but I’m confident that the coaching staff will come up trumps.
