Kalvin Phillips

A fantastic lad, but just not at our level. He is a decent player, but I don't see him ever becoming good enough to play a bigger role for us in the future. Nunes has only recently joined us, but he has been playing most games and adopted really well, and the same goes for Kovacic. Phillips just doesn't seem to have it.

Offload him in January. One moment he had the ball between his feet for 20 seconds and had no clue what to do next. Wolves probably thought let Phillips have the ball as a defensive tactic.

Once again we concede when he comes on. He doesn't seem to want the ball, he slows the tempo if he gets the ball. It feels like we're playing with 10 and a half players.
That wasn’t on him though. Ake got outpaced again and 3 or 4 deflections went their way and they had an open goal.

Nice narrative that they scored within a minute of him coming on, but it was purely coincidental.

Whether he was at fault for the losing goal or not, we look a noticeably weaker side with him on the pitch. Sadly less chance of scoring and more chance of conceding. I am sure the stats would be very apparent: our team minutes with and without him.

His part in the 2nd goal was farcical.

Identical to his slow tracking for Newcastle.

Watch him for both, he looks utterly bewildered as to where he has to be. As if he hasn’t played football all his life.

Flat footed, slow, lack of footbaling intelligence, he is simply not at the level for our club.

And the sad part is he clearly thinks the same but personal pride is stopping him making the right decision to find a new club .
