Kalvin Phillips

The modern version of Scott Sinclair or Jack Rodwell.

Not good enough for the Best of the Best like Eric Roberts.

Watched the full game last night, honestly can't remember him doing anything note-worthy?

He was a bit crap and should have got sent off. Rice can play the holding position on his own, he's more than good enough to do that. England should be ditching the likes of Phillips and Gallagher and playing Maddison or Grealish instead from the start. We have the best attack in the world with a ridiculous amount of depth. Play to our strengths.

Looks like the penny has finally dropped for Kalvin. We all had high hopes the move would work out but it has not turned out that way and it’s time for the player to move on. Some players just don’t make the cut in a Pep team. No shame in it. Loan in Jan, aslong as he don’t slag the club off and goes with dignity then I have no problem.

Sometimes it just don’t work out.

I think when signed him from Leeds he was good enough to be at city. He was excellent at Leeds and was good for England. At the time people rated him better than rice! However he was injured when we signed him and although over his injury has never got match fit! to play at the highest level. It's catch 22, he needs to play 10-15 games on the trot to see if he can get back up to speed, but he's not good enough at the moment to get those games at city. We should of sent him out on loan 2nd half of last season to see if he could get back to his best. He needs to move on to a club where he will play every week. At the moment hes too far off the pace to play for city and England.

He’s not the sharpest tool in the box. He had plenty of opportunity to fuck off in the summer, we couldn’t have made it any more obvious he wasn’t wanted yet he chose to stay, so now to whinge about minutes is a little bizarre.
Yep, he even could've taken a loan move in the summer just too get minutes. But he decided too stay, you would expect him too try extra hard every chance he gets... but I just don't see it.

But he had 1 pretty good season in the premier league, his second premier league season with Leeds had injuries and he was poor when he did play.

Before that he was playing in the Championship.

So basically he's had one decent premier league season in his career. Plenty of bang averages players have had a good season. So I wouldn't necessarily say he had shown anything over a sustained period of time to say he was definitely good enough to play for the best team in football.

I like the lad, but I just think he's a level below what we require.

Worst signing we’ve made under Pep imo given cost

No mitigating factors like others that have failed, just pure dogshit technical ability a terrible lack of drive

He would be the worst if he came on a free. He's a high end championship player, flirting between relegation fights in the prem and promotion the following year.

I.e Leeds!

Think the issue is that the medical team with Peps input worked extensively to get him to the World Cup.When he came back unfit I think Pep felt personally let down and hasn't forgiven him.
Could be wrong but my opinion.
