Kalvin Phillips

I have heard him speak twice about his time at City.
First was with Mark Chapman on Monday Night Club when he said he couldn't believe the standard in training and the second was an interview talking about is performance against Leicester which he described as 'so bad'. He said he rang Bielsa after the game!
That smacks of someone shot of confidence.

Honestly I think there's a player there but self belief and feeling that you actually belong is everything.

Have they let him out after all these years ?

Santa Cruz scored a match winning brace in Mark Hughes last game if I remember correctly.

What has Phillips done, other than take that make a wish penalty?

He’s not affected any game positively once in his limited appearances.
I agree, remember me and a few saying, don't fuckin waste 40 million on him, zero chance of him being a regular. Guess what

Good article about Phillips here. Gives a decent insight into his time at City, and why it didn’t work out for him.

Shame it didn’t work out, lot of us had high hopes for the player, not surprised he is a good team mate and squad player but kavlin didn’t have that killer mentality that is needed at city. Not enough snarl to dislodge another player never mind Rodri!

I hope the club can recoup most of the £40m outlay.

It always felt to me, when he got on, that he was in awe of his surroundings and colleagues that he was a rabbit in the headlights. Pass and move is at the core of what we do but he played a pass and stood still, or time stood still, for him. He needed to believe he was at least as good as Rodri, but came over as the ball boy.

Good luck to him though. Lovely lad, which isn't a given in this league (or greater manchester, for that matter).
