A run? LOL Now that would be a first step if he finally started running! His confidence will get better. Imagine what it does to a person, psychologically, to be publicly battered for not making the grade following such a high profile move? The lad always looks happy but I’m sure it must have taken its toll.
A run in the team at the hammers and it will come back gradually.
I have seen how Zinny was fighting for his place when he knew the club would like to sell him. Extra shifts, first and last on the training pitch and statements that have shown his fighting spirit. And he DID improve and got his well deserved transfer to Arsenal later.
What has Phillips done after refusing to leave last summer? How did he convince Pep he can rely on him? Where was his "fight for his place"?
I have seen nowt. Have I missed anything?
A transfer last summer would have probably helped to sign Rice or Paqueta. Now his value fell off a cliff. That's why I don't have much sympathy for the lad who only does one thing, smile.
He has ignored reality and that's definitely causing trouble in your life.
If he can't handle pressure he isn't right in this tough business. First thing I would recommend is a team of top psychologists. He surely can afford 10k a week to find his confidence and the peace for his humbled soul that is hidden behind a permanent sweet smile - a symbol for harmony, not for a proper fight. IMO
