Kalvin Phillips

He’s a decent player who obviously didn’t manage to fit into the Guardiola mould. Pep apologised, it was one of those unfortunate things that didn’t work. Now he is in a team that can fall apart when things aren’t going their way, but sometimes do OK, so the media will obviously focus on him when West Ham get thumped 6-0, but he wasn’t responsible for that. OK he messed up in his debut, but cut him some slack, he hasn’t had much top-level game time for the last 18 months. He accepted he couldn’t adapt to the City model but he never complained and sat on the bench with dignity and respect. Good luck to the lad.

According to loads on here "we'll easily get our money back" .
No fucking chance.
20-25m tops. (Still a falling knife though...)
Wages are a huge problem for smaller clubs.
If he offers no reasons to invest in his qualities - I couldn't even name them - it will be a loan story.

Have a feeling he got backed/pampered by Marco Bielsa, but turning up on our training pitch he was shocked Pep expects self-motivation as basic skill and only competition decides with world's highest level around him. That's how we got so incredibly successful, without Phillips involved what so ever.

You do know how much 1.5kg (3.3lb) is ? It's little more than the equivalent of a large "dump", if you know you're weight that accurately, fair play.

He's gone, he won't be back here, especially having commented on Pep as he has, but using this "overweight" argument is rather silly. The stats on his appearances for us, are more than enough evidence that he would never make it at City.

His start at West Ham is somewhat underwhelming, but the team seems to have turned to shit, and that's hardly his fault, I hope he can turn it round, as it's the only way we get rid of him eventually.
Wouldn't like to be next in the cubicle after you Blue, Brilliant description of the current exchange rates!

Yep, i know exactly how much it is and that's what annoys me even more tbh. All the players know the weight they need to be around, if you return from an actual preseason and maybe if you're someone like KDB who's established, i can understand it a little more. But for someone who needed to be ready to fight for a spot immediately & has pretty much been at a month long training camp - it shows he didn't have the hunger (or maybe he was too hungry ;D). He's not come immediately when he should have, and then on top of that he's pretty much water weight over what he should have been because they're weighed regularly.

The team at West Ham have def gone to shit and i'm not really expecting him to be playing great, hes not played in a year. But my point is lack of effort, i dont really care about the west ham games so have just been watching him when he comes on and the camera has him in shot off the ball. It's the same as when he was at City, no movement, shying away from the ball and not willing to put in the effort to at least try and look interested. If he was just like that as a player, for instance like Pogba, i'd accept it. But one of the very reasons we bought him was he was used to the Bielsa style of constant pressure. The guy has downed tools a long time ago and admits it in his interview.
