Kalvin Phillips

When the manager doesnt trust you to start against the Young boys, then its time to give up and move

He was a shining light in a shit team that tried to play the way Guardiola likes no wonder Guardiola thought he could work with him.

It is a shame as he has kept his head down and worked hard.

Still an England International pick hope he maintains that.

He seemed to play better last night and seemed to be happier. He was quite decent I thought.

But even still when the opportunities arose to make a telling pass or a nothing pass he chose the nothing pass. I don't think that's a case of Pep coaching him to be more conservative because the passes I'm talking about weren't risky by any means. He just seems to be unwilling to really impact the game. Just being an 11th man on the pitch who can link play imo isn't enough.

Hopefuly he goes and we get someone more sure of themselves. (IMO we should replace him with another modern CB rather than a DM)

Either way I wish him all the best in and out of football.

He did fine enough but fine enough isn't good enough. I like him as a bloke and think there's a perfectly good player there. But he's more suited to a side like Villa or Brighton.

Hopefully gets game time somewhere else. Could see from his first handful of games he was out of his depth. He hasn't progressed one bit here. He is as ponderous now as he was when he first came. Not his fault though. What young lad wouldn't jump at the chance to sign for City.

Just wished he had grabbed the bull by the horns when he had appearances. Obviously not in his character.

Good luck KP

Not gonna make the grade here but wouldn't it be great for him and for us if he had one really special moment in him like a last minute winner v the dippers so we could all look back on his time here fondly

His treble winning celebration and rendition of Johnny , Johnny Stones remains his main input. On the pitch progress has been next to none which is sad as like all our players he's likeable and someone you want to do well.
Setting up his close knit family for life is however a fantastic outcome.

Not been given a fair crack - at least it's difficult to judge him if he isn't played.

Yes I know.. ....Pep.....training.. ....everyday..... etc.

But from a fans point of view I'd like to see him sink or swim - then we could understand.

We can't afford to do that especially in the premier league as he will most likely sink.
