It'll do wonders for the lads confidence..... If he works hard and gets his head down he'll be an excellent centre half/left back...

I think he put him there because Zigic was playing. But having said that, Mancini also played him at left back in pre-season v Inter. Perhaps it's just to ease him in? If you make a mistake at centre back, the striker has a 1-on-1. If you make a mistake at full back,you still have centre backs to cut out the cross. It's similar to the rags playing Smalling and Jones at right back i guess?

Is he the first 16-year-old defender to play for City's first team since Tommy Caton (RIP) in about 1979? He was left footed as well.
I think Paul Simpson was 16 when he made his debut for us in the early 80s as well, think he set up the winner that day, but can't remember one since. Perhaps Gary James or someone with a better memory than me can advise me otherwise.
