Karim Rekik joins PSV on loan.

This is good use of the loan system in effect. He could be rotting in the U21 system like Suarez last season, he could be playing in the kick-and-rush Championship like he was last season, or he could be playing for PSV in the Champions League and a technical league known for its development of young players. City have made the right choice and whether he has a great game or awful game tonight, this is priceless experience. 18 years old and facing Milan in the Champions League.

Absolutely. For top English clubs this is how you have to do it. Even if we had the equivalent of a "Barcelona B" in the Championship, they'd still be facing kick-and-rush opposition, not being challenged by technically adept opponents; obviously we would implement a coherent, technical playing still in "City B" but overall it's still better to loan them out to the likes of the Eredivisie as they just get a better development and better experience (the Eredivisie is a great league for developing young players - though you do have to be wary as Dutch goals can be a devalued currency - see Afonso Alves for an example).

Afonso Alves was one bad example. He didn't really help himself going to Middlesbrough either, whos to say he would have scored plenty in a better team.

How about looking at the likes of Romario, Ronaldo, Suarez and so on. Their goals "devalued" currency?

The Eredivisie is a great league, shame we didn't loan Suarez there last year. Could have done wonders for him and ourselves.

I would like to see our current group of EDS so Ntcham, Fofana and Lopes etc do really well at their level and then move to PSV for a season before coming back and playing in the first team.

Just plucking out the star performers in the EDS and throwing them on the pitch for a carling cup match etc would be pretty pointless imo.

Maybe, but he didn't, and his record in England was very poor. He's not the only example, either. Kezman and Kuyt, neither of whom went to poor sides and were both big money transfers, didn't deliver on their Eredivisie goal promise (though in Kuyt's case he ended up as a very useful acquisition - just not a goal scorer).

The Eredivisie is an attacking league. I've not seen the stats for 12/13 but in 11/12 it was the only major European league to average over 3 goals per game. It's markedly higher scoring than the other leagues, so you have to be cautious about purchasing attacking players from the Eredivisie and bear that fact carefully in mind.

No, of course not. It's an excellent league for developing players and those guys are or were fantastic talents (there are others, as well, such as Ibrahimovic).

I agree that loaning Suarez there could have been a very good move and we missed a trick there

1-1 fully deserved.

Not every mistake is because of inexperience, wish the commentators would stop going on about that.
