loan to Rotterdam, his good pal Metinho is also there - translation machine sez~
The Brazilian Kayky is this season player of Sparta Rotterdam. The 21-year-old right winger is rented from Manchester City for one season.
Kayky started playing football at Fluminense, where he also met Metinho. He not only played with his compatriot, but he also lived in the same house. Kayky eventually went through the youth academy of Fluminense and played 33 games in the first team. The right winger then left for ten million euros to Manchester City, where Kayky also made his debut. In both the Premier League and in the FA Cup, Kayky took in one game. For Manchester City O23 and in the Youth League there were more minutes for the wing attacker.
Nevertheless, the youth international left after thirteen games with six goals and four assists for Portugal. Kayky was loaned out to Pacos Ferreira and last season to EC Bahia in his home country. Kayky eventually played 28 games at that Brazilian club, after which he suffered a severe knee injury almost a year ago. The Brazilian is still recovering from this and is fully deployable after the interland break of October.
Technical Director Gerard Nijkamp is happy to welcome Kayky to Sparta. “We have been looking at Kayky for some time and have always kept in touch during his rehabilitation period. His game before his injury has made us decide to rent Kayky one season, because we are convinced that he will strengthen our team when he is fully deployable again. The fact that we have to wait a few weeks for it is no problem.”
