KDB wants to retire at City

It could all change in the blink of an eye, of course, but when do people think he can play regularly at the very top. It would be wrong to say acceleration wasn’t an important part of his game, but not overwhelmingly so. His passing will always be incisive but getting about the pitch makes that range he has so much more effective.

35, maybe? Fernandinho had just turn 37 when he retired, but that doesn’t mean anything really.

That would mean two more seasons after this one. It’ll go quick of course, especially for him.

Did they get a choice?
I expect they would have had to give their consent for their image to be used, as their contract with the club would doubtless be subject to some sort of image IP rights, which (if those representing them have done their job) would extend beyond the strict term of that playing contract.

Stands to reason, given the profile of the players we are talking about.

I've always thought, it wasn't the slip that cost them, it was him trying to make up for it, shooting from daft angles/distances.
It was his overindulged ego and inflated status at the club that had him playing as the holding midfielder (which he never was) when his legs were gone as well, don't forget. Cost them big time that season and after in more than just that game.

That’s a bit unfair. He wasn’t player manager! Think Rodgers played him in that position precisely because his legs had gone.

Kev is in the conversation as our greatest ever player imo and if Vinny, Kin and Merlin have one then KDB needs one as well! Maybe he stays at the club in a capacity as well? Surprised Gundo never got anything as well to be honest? The winning goals he’s scored over the recent years has been incredible

I'd blame Rodgers as much tbf. But playing a second striker, as they were called in those days (he was never a central midfielder as he didn't do any defending or get involved in buildup) in a position he was never any good at, that he didn't have the skillset to play in, because he was too old to do a job anymore in his best position, just because he was the big name at the club is what cost them.
Shrek moving into midfield at the rags was just as silly.

Agree, just making the point that you can’t really blame him if Rodger’s was picking him there. What footballer isn’t going to want to prolong their career at the top?

Don't think it's quite that simple. He would have felt he could do a job there or it wouldn't have happened and if he'd realised his limitations would have cut down on the showy touches and runs forward and focused on the basics. The slip came from a shit touch opening himself up for a Hollywood pass instead of keeping the ball safe.
