Keir Starmer

Isn't saying "Owned his own business" a rather loaded interpretation, when he apparently was a self-employed tool maker? While "lived in a posh part of the world" suggests everyone who lives in a posh area is posh.

At one point my dad owned his own business, and I also lived in a very posh part of the world for a while. Or my dad drove a taxi for a few years, and I used to live in a shared council house in Marlow in Buckinghamshire.

Not loaded at all I read he was self employed and ran his own business. If he lived in a council house he would have mentioned it as many times as he mentioned his dad being a toolmaker. So all the fucking time:-)

People will see a Sir called Keir who was a lawyer and is now a politician. If he wants to get down with the poor folk he should speak up for them with policy and not embarrass himself.

"Just don't try and make out you were something you weren't it's pathetic."

You're saying it's pathetic for him to suggest he had a working class upbringing, and your evidence is that "His dad owned his own business and they lived in a posh part of the world".

You're clearly implying that his dad was well off, and he lived in a posh house. My point was that we have no idea how much his dad earned, or if he lived in a poor area in a posh part of the world.

If anything, you're more guilty of misrepresenting his youth, and you're insinuations appear to be based on the flimsiest assumptions.

I really don't understand why it's embarrassing to suggest you had a working class upbringing, even if you've been so successful that no-one would suggest he or his family are working class now. Telling us that's a failing attempt to get down with the poor folk seems quite dismissive of anyone who has been successful.

His political opponents (ironically rich, establishment Tories), have been desperately trying to present him as part of the "Metropolitan Elite", or a "Lefty Lawyer", who doesn't understand "the British people". Clearly you don't like him, but it's hardly unusual in politics to try and connect with voters, and banging on about this at every opportunity is one way to fight back against the ridiculous lies of Johnson, Farage and Sunak. The big shame is that so many on the left, are happy to parrot the nonsense of Guido Fawkes, and (and not suggesting your insinuations were at this level) tell us all about the huge, made up, factory that his dad owned, and his silver spoon upbringing.

I've answered this and also stated I don't have a problem with his class or anyone else's. He's a politician and he has brought this up for reason. If you can't work out why and the reason thats your problem, im guessing some are a tad gullible. Anyhow it would be nice to have a political leader that isn't a bit cringe when talking to people outside of his bubble.

Maybe the next one.

I am trying to think of a Labour leader who was on the tools before he became PM and wore overalls at work. I don't think there is one unless it's Kier Hardie who was a miner but never PM.

Harold Wilson, for example, was a University Don.

If, by any chance, such a leader emerged I can well imagine the Tory press. They would call him loud-mouthed, uneducated, ignorant and unfit to be in the Cabinet. Rather as with Angela Raynor, although she has the additional disadvantage of being a woman. They absolutely slate her, and so do the bright sparks who comment in the papers, although I believe she is a very good constituency MP. But never mind that little fact.

Not gullible enough to believe the nonsense spouted by Guido and Skwawkbox ;)

Looks like he prefers Labour First for his daily propaganda.

Labour First based in the inner city ghetto of Oxford and founded by the father of Lord Farquart the self employed mechanic of Mclarem motorsport who resides in the cockle picking port of sandbanks Dorset.

Self employed car mechanic sounds like he’s classically working class.

We have shared many nights at belle Vue dogs while drinking pale ale and rolling ginny baccy. Then one day when I visited his 10 up 10 down he asked me to park the citroen saxo round the back out of view of the neighbours.

I told him precisely what I thought of him but thinking back I should have turned down the classic Fm banging out of my sub woofers.

Not seen the **** for over a year, captains day excluded. Shot a 69 net but I digress.

Hope his snap-on account gets closed.
