Keir Starmer

Not one mention of MPs safety in this 5 minute interview ...... almost as if they are making it up as they go along.

*For some reason Sky News have deleted his interview from yesterday*

He did mention that he personally penned the Labour amendment after consulting, amongst others, the president of Israel. That's the same president who believes there are no innocents in Gaza and has been cited in the ICJ hearings. Don't think that Telavivkeith moniker is going away anytime soon.IMG_20240223_090221.jpg

Labour are a good solid party in my opinion and i think Starmer has a PM feel about him.

The problem we have is knowing that they are picking up the pieces from the Tories who have decimated this country and that's going to be an impossible task, chucked in with right wing media and social media pouring scorn on everything Labour does. So he doesn't really stand a chance of pleasing everyone.

Latest You Gov Poll

The figures are skewed by the Tories having a massive 35% of 65-plus-age voters. Other age groups, in summary, they are fucked.

One of the most common complaints about Starmer is that he's not giving people something to get excited about voting for, and he needs to come up with something to get people excited or there'll be terrible turnout which helps the Conservatives. The data suggests that simply kicking out the Tories is more than enough motivation.

73% said they were 7,8,9 or 10/10 voting in the election vs just 16% saying they were 0,1,2 or 3/10 going to vote.

All true, but our politics would be healthier if a labour landslide was based on a real alternative vision rather than just how dreadful the Tories have been

Yeah but Labour have been around for 100 years and we had 13 years of them before the Tories.

It's not like we're voting for Lord Buckethead here, everyone knows roughly where Labour stands on everything, and where they will diverge from the Conservative party.

And in some ways I actually think a party falling so far, becoming so corrupt and debased that the electorate just wipes them out for a generation or more is the best version of the next election precisely because it's a rejection of backward divisive ideas and cronyism outright, not falling for the promises of a new new labour messiah. Idon't know what the future holds with the other guy, but I know you aren't fit to govern me.

That's just it though. I don't think there will be much divergence, just a rewind to a less extreme time more akin to the Osborne/Cameron austerity govt than new labour or anything approaching left wing.
