Keir Starmer

What was needed in the pandemic was an opposition that vigorously questioned and debated pandemic-related legislation, not on ideological grounds but simply to try and ensure that no hasty, ill-judged policies were implemented. What we got was a supine, gutless crew who waved through almost every pandemic policy on the nod.
What a bizarre take on it. Most pandemic policy, like quicker lockdown, was suggested by the opposition, Johnson said he wouldn't do it then a fortnight later did it while calling Starmer "Captain Hindsight".

Not that bizarre really, just another brick in the wall of Johnson lies.

I disagree. Starmer in parliament really did change policies which could have turned out even more disastrous had Boris not reluctantly given in - most notably , Starmer absolutely grilling Boris to not go ahead with Xmas gatherings , for weeks and weeks he laid into Boris for this , clearly and precisely. Boris eventually caved. Same with reopening of schools during the second lockdown.

Starmer would have handled this pandemic so much better , yet more people hung up because he isn’t ‘left enough’

Anyone who isn't a selfish **** like Johnson would have handled the pandemic better. Even Jeremy Hunt or Teresa May.

He's been a huge letdown for me. I was more than fed up with Corbyn. He isn't the sharpest tool in the box, but when Starmer was elected leader, I thought here is a man with the intellect and sharp brains that will toast Johnson and the tories.

What have we got? A man so grey he makes John Major look colourful.

I thought he would have done better than he has. We have the most corrupt and unaccountable government in our history selling the country down the pan, and he's not calling them out. He's silent.

It's depressing, it really is.

Will you vote for him though in the next election?

I don't know. Will he still be the leader of the Labour party at the next election?

I'd like to think I will, but I don't think Labour are doing themselves any favours by insisting on fielding a candidate in every constituency. It doesn't help, but then I live in a constituency that has always returned a tory MP.

I just feel my vote is wasted, to be honest. I'm not directly voting for Starmer as his name won't be the one on my ballot sheet. I'd be happier voting if we had PR, when my vote would count and going to the polling station was measured in a democratic way, but it's a forlorn hope.

Yes, PR would give foghorns of ignorance like Farage a place in parliament, but as detestable as that may seem, it would be democracy in action, More importantly though, for me, it would stop fringe members with crazy ideas, like the ERG, hanging off the coat tails of traditional parties.

Much as I detest the tory party and all their smug lies and deceit, it was telling they removed the Whip from the father of the house, Ken Clarke, a traditional tory right of centre MP, and more than a few conservative MP's before the last election defected, saying it wasn't the party they joined.

No, we are being led at the moment by a fringe movement masquerading as conservatives, with a weak leader as Prime Minister that can't control them, and they are all extreme right wing nut jobs that have the book 'Britannia Unchained' as their bible.

Like I said, it's depressing times.

He wouldn't have been PM though. It would have been Corbyn and Abbott. I'm sure we would have been okay with those two at the helm and with Ashworth leading the NHS!

Keith ordering MPs to campaign in Hartlepool as all the activists there feel Starmer has abandoned them.

The movement with young voters started under Corbyn has all but dissapated. One saying to me "He's too Tory"

He's been put there to destroy the party.
