What was needed in the pandemic was an opposition that vigorously questioned and debated pandemic-related legislation, not on ideological grounds but simply to try and ensure that no hasty, ill-judged policies were implemented. What we got was a supine, gutless crew who waved through almost every pandemic policy on the nod.
