Well played Kier and Labour front bench on the motion tabled yesterday. Clealry skewerd the tory party.

It was a brilliant motion as well, fracking is probably the most divisive issue in the party. So many countryside tory MPs knew if they voted for it they'd be persona non grata in their constituency.

But it was Truss & co. making it a confidence vote that really made it a killer blow, there's no way Labour could have imagined they'd be that stupid.

It was a checkmate scenario.

Whip to oppose and win but generate massive internal strife and inflict serious damage to each MPs individual election campaign prospects.

Or leave as free vote - lose and LT loses authority, she had none to lose so had to go for option 1.
