Keir Starmer

I'm still hopeful that Labour are playing a game of adopting positions that pile pressure on the tories. The tories long for the day they could attack Labour on their remainer approach. In the absence of such discussions many tories are just left wondering why they have tanked the economy through such a harsh brexit. The kite flying last weekend was evidence of tories putting the feelers out for a better EU relationship.

Long term Labour members will force the leadership to adopt a pro EU stance.

These graph below explain a lot IMO.

Look where the black dot is. Those are people who left Labour to vote for the conservatives in 2019 and they are people Labor needs to win an election.

On other issues ( ie economic policy) the black dot is much closer to Labour than the Conservatives, so if Labour adopts a 90's/00's immigration policy, they will lose the Brexit voters again. If they mirror the government they stand a decent chance at winning voters back with other policies.

As always with this Labour, we don't need them to be perfect, we just need them to win. There are more than enough proper labour types in the shadow cabinet to make a difference when they're in power.

Getting praise from Farage now. Not a good look.
Starmer continues to put labour on the purple Tory path.

More activists expelled/suspended.

He's manipulating nominations for MPs so no nasty Lefties get selected. Luckily he's failed in the East Midlands so far.

Further and further the lurch to the right and the piss poor tony Blair tribute act marches on.

He knows cunts like me have no choice to get the Tories out.

That is the thinking but I'd add that over time views will change. Many leave voters are learning about the impact of immigration and border control in real time.

A pro EU approach would be even more popular now than 2 or 3 years ago. I think that trend will continue as long as we are in recession and under performing.

I did say a few weeks back that Labour immigration policy would be virtually the same as the Tories.

Why?

Because it will be a vote winner that’s why.

The open doors, no borders fantasy that some have is just that, a fantasy.

Comparing him to right wing figures is about par for the course on here lol.

Not against it, but the priority should be reform of the Commons. More of the country’s problems stem from there rather than the other place, so that’s where major reform should be happening.

I agree - the Lords do not make laws, they highlight the most stupid ideas that the Commons tries to get through.
There are too many but as far as I know, if they don't show up they don't get paid and affect nothing much.

It needs reform, but I'm not sure what abolition would be replaced by that wouldn't immediately be hijacked by the politicians - the real problem is when people like Johnson try to rig the numbers. I like the idea that the members (or at least some of whatever reformed version appears) has people who can't be deselected based on their votes, and also know what they're talking about.

That’s good news. The left of the party had its chance and gave us what we have now.

I don’t mind Labour taking up the middle ground, or even further right, as it takes away a lot of votes from the Tories.

That’s why I say he’s playing a blinder, these small moves are turning the Tories, and their voters, inside-out.
