Keir Starmer

FYI - the Member for Lichfield is Fabricunt

I deliberately avoided any news broadcasts yesterday for various reasons but I have just watched this and I have cried at the reference to the man whose wife died. Not just because I felt for him and his family but because similar happened in my own family, as it did for many, and this brought back the helplessness I felt at the time when I couldn’t comfort my grandchildren when their other grandmother died.

That was a very powerful speech from Keir Starmer and the three words that stand out for me are HONESTY, INTEGRITY and DECENCY.

I have never really hated a person, disliked yes but hate is not a word I want to ever use. However I am coming very close to it with Johnson. That concerns me because it is against my nature. I’ve been told I’m too ready to see both sides of arguments but that ability is going out of the window with that lower than the sewer ‘person’ we have as our Prime Minister.

I really should keep away from politics!!

you really shouldn’t, EB.

the plummeting standards of public office holders affects us all.

One major problem for us all is that none of us could imagine that politics in the UK would plummet to these levels. We knew there was a ceiling and there was a floor - politics crashed though the floor in 2016 and in 2019 went through the cellar floor and hasn't stopped tunnelling yet..........

I absolutely know what both of you mean. I think it is the sense of helplessness I am feeling that is getting to me. Somehow in the past I felt that there were ways we could influence the politicians but nowadays it is a 'closed shop'.

I was just saying to my sister in law that I really wish I lived in an area where there was a chance to change things at the local elections but we all know (the ones who live in Eccles/Salford) that there is little chance. I want the country to kick the Conservatives out as far as the moon!!!

Sorry, just a bad day at Black rock as they say, can't get to the match and can't see anything changing. Ah well onwards and upwards with Manchester City.

Conservative MPs in Durham writing to the police force asking them to reinvestigate Starmer.
Aside from possibly redefining 'opportunist', can't see that having much effect apart from to gain some brownie points with the whips.

Poor Keith no matter which way he turns he's getting outflanked ...... even the 'centrist's are plotting.

It has been tried. The Independent Group for Change. It failed. It will fail again.

It will not succeed in an electoral system without PR.

It is just delusional to believe otherwise, which means it is more likely a hollow threat or opportunists looking to advance their own positions.

Starmer has served his purpose between 2017-2019. He is just in a caretaker role now until labour can be trusted not to lurch to the left and elect another socialist as leader. He'll then retire to the lord's.
