It’s not the issue it’s the way he handled it. Just like Trump in this regard. That wasn’t a typical politician white lie it was a bare faced outright lie.

Hopefully enough people, who wouldn’t just vote for a pig in a red rosette, do care about the type person that will lead this country. You enjoy voting for the new tories led by a mini Trump or a Johnson without the personality - all the things you claim to hate. Hypocrite I think is the word.

The Abbott stuff is Westminster bubble stuff for most people, it’s not important enough to cut through.

Most will be thinking about things like the conservatives wanting to implement national service, not whether a Labour mp that wouldn’t be anywhere near the cabinet has the whip restored or not.

Yeah okay, hun. To be honest, given your voting track record to date, I would be more alarmed if you were voting for Starmer. Your ability to give the issues careful thought and consideration and still end up on the wrong side shows remarkable consistency.

On a wider note, I hate to break it to the faithful posters on here, but the electorate’s number one issue is to give the Tories such a kicking they will be feeling it for the next decade or two.

What Starmer says or does, or frankly what anyone of any party says or does, in the next month isn’t going to move the dial. Someone has to take the fall for the last decade and the nomination is the party that largely caused a lot of it.

Life comes at you fast and all that.

I think there’s a few different groups. Corbyn/Left leaners who believe Starmer stabbed him in the back, forgetting that Corbyn and his followers had turned the party toxic.

Then there’s those who believe that they should be in the upper classes, voting for anything the Tories want them to so that they can feel a part of them.

The last seems to be those who just get things wrong, thinking they’ve got it right and then regretting their mistake.

As they say, nothing as strange as folk ;-)

I think the sane will be mightily relieved, celebrating is really for the hard of thinking or the dishonest 'team Labour' lot.

Soon enough posters who lamented the apologists on here will become that rather strange specimen themselves. In fact it has already started from the moment the date of the election was set and the polls came a rolling in.
