Keir Starmer

And genuinely quite possible.

The Tories look a more viable option than Labour now and that's saying something really. Just after Labour was wiped out by reform the bloke announces that he's going to have stronger ties with Europe sealing Labours fate in the GE. Listening isn't happening and because of that they are sleepwalking into being a redundant party.

Her plan wasn’t to become the next PM but rather let the NEC know she was challenging. This would force out the real runners and riders, Streeting, Rayner etc.

The problem is the one everyone in the PLP can seemingly get behind can’t even make the ballot paper.

First she is going to fire the starting gun then someone got in her ear about it being too soon and an hour later she did a u turn. It is clear the PLP want Starmer gone because they do not believe he is the right person to lead, yet now want to fuck around playing silly buggers leaving him in charge until they can find the promised one. As the expression goes, shit or get off the potty.

So now we wait for the new ultimatum of September, then a couple of months of voting a new leader in, so end of this year. All the while this pantomime plays out folk are loosing their jobs and struggling to make ends meet.

What a fucking shambles.

It's mind boggling.
Seemingly happy for the country to stutter along for months in confusion and uncertainty until they can get Burnham in.

Starmer is either good/bad for the job now or he isn't.
Is this more about the Labour Party wanting to appear united rather than what is best for the country?
Do the various factions see their own war as more important than what is right?

I find his steering us as close as he can to the EU to be particularly disturbing.

I voted Remain and I even campaigned for a re-run of the Referendum for a while because I was mortified at the result.

But a close mate of mine (thankfully) shook sense into me and convinced me that the will of the public in a democratic referendum must be honoured. It's wholly unacceptable to be trying to reverse it via the back door, or god forbid, literally.

Why would it take a mate to convince you that a referendum must be honoured?

Exactly!!

Probably because I was so wrapped up in leaving being - as I thought at the time - bonkers. My passion was clouding my judgement.

Incidentally I no longer think it was, nor is, bonkers. I had feared the upheaval of getting out would overshadow the considerable benefits for too long for it to make sense. I thought the EU would punish us and refuse any trade agreement without unacceptable strings attached. None of this holds true. Brexit is "done" and the world kept spinning.

We've done the hard yards. We can rid ourselves of terrible EU laws and "take back control". To go back in now would be as stupid as it is undemocratic. Can you honestly imagine the public being in favour of freedom of movement and open borders in the current climate? It's unthinkable.

I had a long drive back from Scotland to get to my polling station before it closed that evening. I was convinced we would remain, and voted to remain. I couldn’t believe the result the day after, however I accepted it immediately, as it was the will of the people, though whether letting the people vote on such an important matter is still something I can’t get my head around.

Time to go now. Starmer has feet of clay, no plan, complacent, totally untrustworthy and a poor communicator. That's just for starters. Time to make way and get Burnham back into the House of Commons and up for the leadership. A loss to Manchester sadly but we need to improve people's lives and stop the Far Right.

Fair play to you mate.

I'd love the comedy gold moment of a Labour stalwart doing the honourable thing and resigning so Burnham can stand, only for him to lose to the Green or Reform candidate. That would be genuinely funny.
Throwing away £350k in wages plus pension contributions and expenses must really love the cause. Or be looking for an ambassador role.

And as a consequence they (Labour) would likely lose the Mayoralty of Manchester which Burnham will have had to resign from to stand for Parliament.

Yes, the Tories were shit and in deep shit, but seriously, are this lot any better?
Of course not, and that's the reason 'they' back both sides so never lose.
