Kelechi Iheanacho

I understand too.

I just don't agree with you or have much time for your opinion when you keep trying to belittle the fact of Kelechi being voted the top player in the U17 World Cup. If we signed a Brazilian player for example, who was the best player in this U20 World Cup, I wouldn't expect various Brazilians to appear on here playing it down & explaining how he didn't really deserve it because someone else was better than him a year earlier.
WTF are you talking about? Belittle please show me where exactly I said he didn't deserve the award? smdh...

You're the only one that's getting overly defensive about my opinion (coupled with facts) that not only has he has never played as a striker for Nigeria, but that Succes is the better talent (and Striker) , this doesn't mean that Kelechi is a bad player, rather the contrary he along with Success and some players in this squad are looking be the leaders of a Glolden generation of Nigerian talent coming up.

As I have said before, he plays in the hole behind the striker and in Midfield and that's the position he player where he rightly earned the Golden ball award at the U17's, don't know why you're trying to put words in my mouth...

I know where he played & I know how good he was when he won the award, I saw every game. He was the top player in the World Cup.

That's the point I've been making since the start. The last time he played a run of games, he was chosen as the outstanding player, not in an Africans only competition, but in the world competition. And he scored 6 goals, as a non striker. He has barely had chance to play decent standard competitive football since, but has still managed to score a bunch of goals, playing for City, mainly as a striker. He can play both, because he is a fucking great talent.

When he gets more games & gets settled, he will be an outstanding player for City imo, as the chairman says in his interview today. I believe that will start to happen quite quickly, & within the next year or so, we will see him making a significant contribution to City's first team squad.

I agree with Neville. I'm still pretty shocked, together with most Nigerians, that their biggest talents in years are benchwarming at the U20 World Cup. I can only hope this doesn't affect their careers. Musa Yahaya, Isaac Success and especially Kelechi Iheanacho deserve more.

I can't believe the coach is starting headless chickens ahead of these guys for the third game running... (Kelechi isn't starting again).

Damn... he has a player that made Belgian team of the season and he has only played like 20 minutes at this U20 World Cup. I understand you need team cohesion, but benching your four best players is a sign of bad coaching.

Nigeria knocked up and I hope Iheanacho discard anything he was taught by Manu and the Nigerian NT. Hopefully he focuses on his development and ignores any U20/21/23 call up for the near future.

Should be well rested for the pre-season.

Worst coaching ever. Garba throws in the towel and Nigeria's star players like Iheanacho, Yahaya, Success and Simon are not culpable for this defeat. Three of them spent 90 minutes on the bench, while the fourth was played out of position for some 40 minutes...

I sincerely hope this does not impact these immensely talented players and their progress.

Unfortunately looks like the 'local boys' got a runout ahead of those with European contracts just because...

Because he's probably on a back hander to put those players in the shop window that's the only reason I can see they keep the better players in the bench

Frankly bizarre to leave your best talents on the bench for most the tournament, will be interesting to hear the reason but sounds like for Nigerias best prospects this was a wasted opportunity.
