I heard that rumor too.

This is the first time since 2008 that we have purposely weakened our squad and I'm not sure why. To me, this is one of those ones that will come back to haunt us given a long European season.

The possibility that Aguero and Jovetic will both get injured at the same time is realistic given their recent injury records and this would leave us overplaying one striker. A little worried about this one, I understand that we need to move people on for the purposes of bringing through young players but this has just left a big hole in our squad and none of our young players are even close to ready to filling it.

A confusing move from Txiki.

They are down playing iheanacho for obvious reasons, ones which will become apparent when he signs officially.... City have invested upwards of £200m on the new academy/training facilities, the representative of this, however meek, is iheanacho, he has been one of the most sought after youth players in world football, we have him, it isn't the guidetti's, Mohammed abus, or razak's of this world, it's genuinely a kid who is not only ready now, but recognised as ready by the hierarchy...... Vinny off the record believes him to be a superstar in the making....

Re: Iheanacho - Our 4th Striker?

Really looking forward to seeing this lad play in some competitive games for our first team.
Was impressed by his cameo appearances in the tour of USA.

I thought there was some issues with his Visa/Eligibility to play for us?
He may need more international games first or something, I'm unsure.

Iheanacho Sweats on Work Permit

By Bowale Odutola / July 25, 2014 / 0 Comments

Iheanacho, who caught the eye in Man City’s 4-1 friendly win over Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday, may be loaned out to a club overseas until he is eligible to play in England

Premier League defending champions, Manchester City, are still battling hard to secure a work permit for their wonder kid and Nigeria’s Kelechi Iheanacho. Iheanacho, who produced an eye-catching performance in Man City’s 4-1 friendly win over Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday after scoring a late goal with an accomplished finish, may be loaned out to a club overseas until he is eligible to play in England.

The former Golden Eaglets midfielder joined Man City squad on the trip to Scotland for games against Dundee and Hearts and was later invited into Manuel Pellegrini’s 23-man squad for the tour of the United States. Another Nigerian Chidiebere Nwakali, also went to Scotland.
Iheanacho scored six goals in seven matches, winning the Silver Boot as the second highest goalscorer and the Golden Ball as the best player at the Under 17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates last year.

After scoring for Manchester City on Thursday, Manuel Pellegrini said: “Kelechi is just 17 years old and he’s a very important player for us in the future. He demonstrated today what he can do in the future. It depends on the way he takes this profession, but I think he’s a good talent. He’s a very important player for the future for the club.”

He's a big lad too, 6' 1" already and left sided like Alf.

There is a thread about this lad already on the Acadamy forum but I've heard that he may join the senior squad when he signs formally in October. There are some doubts apparently about him getting a work permit though which may see him start off in New York.
There seems to be genuine excitement about his quality and he did look pretty special for a 16 year old in pre-season. Maybe it was a factor in the odd decision to let Alf go.

he's 18 in couple of weeks

edit: allegedly. truth is that he's probably 22/23. still relatively young tho

sorry about that and he does look exceedingly mature

He won best player at the U17 World Cup so easily qualifies for a work permit under the exceptional talent ruling. The issue is his age not his nationality.

All the lads in that Nigerian team have been medically checked to confirm their ages. Kelechi is 17. They have tightened it up recently due to widespread allegations.

Re: Iheanacho - Our 4th Striker?

I said somewhere else on the forum that he reminds me very much of Pogba. He looks like a man already, but for someone so big he seems to have excellent technique. I thought he looked every inch a premiership footballer and a really exciting talent in pre season.

With regards the work permit, I'm certain City will get one for him. The bigger question will be whether he goes NYC as has been mooted, whether he comes and plays for our EDS, or whether he goes straight into the first team reckoning. In a way i'd say it's a no brainer that if he can be registered and play in the PL, or the CL, then we should give him a chance between October and January.

Can,t wait to see the Nacho man playing in the prem.gonna be a monster.

Re: Iheanacho - Our 4th Striker?

This thread got me looking back at the Sporting KC game. He doesn't look at all like a 17 year old out there, he's so damn good.

I bet anything he was in the club's mind when they let the Beast go. Love to see him in the squad and get a run in the cups.
