Why not just say "most valuable player"?
Probably for the same reason as people who write MOTM?

Except one of those acronyms is widely understood and the other isn't.

NLASA.

Just because you didn't know what it meant doesn't mean it is not widely understood. It is used far more in sport than MOTM. The lad is clearly speaking a foreign language - as you say nobody likes a smart arse.

Nah it's not . It's standard practice.
I have just updated his page and the glo CAF awards 2013 to show he was also CAFs young player (Emerging Talent) of the year for 2013 - that should get it to stick.

MVP is pretty widely understood, but it's an American Football thing really.
Its actually more widely used in NBA and MLB, buts its used for 'english' sports too - Cricket being one, Jeetan Patel has just won the MVP award for this years County Game.

The most cursory search of Bluemoon would reveal the terms MoTM and WTF outnumbering MVP by hundreds to one.
Theres only one way to solve this - Fight!

Good riposte, mate, but how about Bluemoon, rather than something swamped by US stats ? Or failing that, can you narrow it down to an English football context?

If so, I'll concede defeat graciously.

:-)

The only mentions of KI seem to be the mild controversy among Nigerian soccer observers and pundits about the Nat'l team coach leaving him off the roster for the upcoming 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan. He sez Nacho is still not quite ripe for the big show yet.

So Carragher was the best defender ...and the Titanic sank?

There, you've made me do it.

WTF: 29,212 matches on Bluemoon
MOTM: 6,031
MVP: 292
There is a big wide world outside of bluemoon :-)
