Kelechi Iheanacho

You call that developing strikers ??

Jason Beckford = 4 in 53
Mike Sheron = 24 in 100 for City and 126 in 490 career
Leon Mike = 5 in 50
Bradley Wright Phillips = 2 in 32 for City, 77 in 240 in England and 45 in 80 in USA
Ched Evans = 1 in 16 for City and 52 in 131 career
Ishmael Miller = 39 in 207

Not a great deal to crow about all told.

No, never said that. It's not a success story by any means, just the number of strikers we've brought through.

The rags have been poor in the same time period too. Other than Rashford and Rossi I'm struggling to name any others. David Healey?

Tbh if you saw Rashford play at kids' level there was no comparison. Kelechi in his brief spell at the academy was on another level entirely as a footballer & Rashford was a kid who would not have been sure of a place in any of City's sides at any age group as he came through.

It's the same with most of the kids who have come through to play for Utd. They were not better or in many cases as good as their direct counterparts at City. The biggest difference is that they were being prepared to play whereas ours were being prepared to watch them play.

No way would you have swapped Barker, Ambrose, Boadu etc for Rashford.

Kelechi looked on another planet in comparison & I suspect that will probably end up being the case long term, but tbf to Rashford, some kids do go up several levels when they get time in the first team & surprise/shock everyone.

Something many on here who defend Pellegrini are completely ignorant about regarding developing young players.

The thing about Kelechi, is that what we are seeing now, is the tip of the iceberg. The goals are a kind of bonus talent but not necessarily his main talent. He startrd to show a bit yesterday, dropping deep, playing passes, beating players. That's the part of his game which would have been developed at first team level this season by a proper manager.

The power in the shot, the run from deep. All this stuff is Kelechi. Not a tap in scorer. He'a a No 10 who can run & pass & dribble, shoot etc and may be as good or better at it than KDB once he gets enough games. Even Manuel has mentioned this ability.

Rashford is what we see now. Kelechi is just warming up.

Mulling over this because Rashford looks the part, even more than that Martial. This rashford looks dangerous at times, while martial seems to have been found out and having been frustrated at getting his runs cut and not able to beat his man. wont trade for kelechi though who has more to his game than goals.

credit to MOTD for pointing out the reason why the media hasnt waxed lyrical about kelechi. Although on the grande scheme of things its for the best. In interviews kelechi has shown admirable humility. Last night it was apparent that through bated breath he wants to play in the CL. I hope he understands that he will getbhis chances in the near future.
