Before game on TV said City's incredible support will ensure they win the League in the next couple of years.
After game said City are one of very few teams that can go to OT and WIN !
Good ol' Kev then said he likes Mancini a lot for his willingness to give credit to others!
Have to love him!!

Personally I prefer SP, KK spend all the dosh on over the hill over paid has beens & left us with a load of crap that were not good enough to keep us in the top flight.

Spot on.

I remember all the over the hill casts offs and has beens he signed for us.

Anelka.

Distin.

And the 100 goals we scored that season was rubbish as well.

Oh, and the crap he left us that weren't good enough to keep us in the top flight... just remind me... when did we get relegated since Keegan's arrival?

I must have missed that.

Surely opening up a debate is precisely what this site is designed for?
Course it is, it's just that the OP related to KKs comments on the telly so I was responding to that. I'm sure that there are plenty of threads where KKs performance as a manager are debated. Then again, on reflection, I guess that's what makes BM so entertaining, the fact that a thread can be opened up about something, and by the 5th page, something completely different is being debated.

Exactly! And I bet there's a decent percentage of threads, whatever the nature of the OP, ends up with a reference to the scum! That's the world we live in...

After all the years of promotion and relegation, KK put a stop to that. Got us back in the premiership and kept us there. Wasn't good enough to take us any further, but he helped put things in place to help us progress to where we are now. I would thank him for that least. He gave us some good memories too.

I take it you mean you remember all the over the hill cast offs APART FROM Anelka and Distin he signed for us, players like Sommeil, Sinclair, the mighty Sibierski, etc. 'The King' then legged it and went into hiding in Scotland leaving us to scrape premiership survival and narrowly avoid bankruptcy by selling our only decent remaining asset.

Yes I remember the 100 goals and the great football, but I also remember it was the 1st division and I remember we blew the rest of the division out of the water budgetwise to achieve it, we then replaced most of the first team with the aforementioned has beens.

Not a prem standard manager, that's why he's a pundit.

Keegan was, and continues to be, a true gent. There have been many threads on here about how well he has tretaed fans etc. He had the balls to stand up to the NUFC fans when he sold Cole (I think it was Cole) and to explain why he had done it.

Re City, in my opinion he put a smile back on all our faces.

His comments on the ITV game yesterday were in keeping with his style. A man with true style and charisma. I also liked what he said about Mancini.

Joking?

KK's promotion season was the best football I ever saw us play and the most enjoyable season I have had (1975-present). I also really like the guy who, unfortunately, was too honest and too nice for his own good!

Agreed. And under SP we played the most turgid, unattractive and poor football I have seen us play in years. It nearly reduced me to tears and I was sick to death of us being on LAST on MOTD every single week because we were so shit and SO dull.

The lack of money was a contributing factor, but for me the main reason was that SP was USELESS.

What an ungrateful post.
Keegan worked wonders from the wreckage we were at the time.Fuck me-we were even linked with Neil Warnock after Royle was sacked!Do you seriously believe we would've attracted the likes of Berkovic,Schmeichel and And Anelka had Warnock or some other middle of the road journeyman been in charge?
He did what Keegan always does-gives a club belief and propels it forward. We were on a massive downer after relegation and Keegan was the man.I remember thinking "yes!" and legging down to Maine rd after it was confirmed he was the new boss.
That season in the Championship remains one of my favourite times in football.
When we got promoted we finished 9th (which if I'm not mistaken still remains the highest finishing position by a newly promoted side) only narrowly missing out on Europe. We beat the rags in the last derby, beat Liverpool away and played some great football.
Not every signing works out,and not everything Keegan did was sound judgement -the relentless pursuit of a clearly unfit Fowler was Keegan's ultimate folly-but the fact is that Keegan left an established side, with some top quality players, playing in a brand new stadium with 45,000 fans turning up to watch.
You could argue that his spending left us in a precarious position-but I still believe that had he not spent the money he did,and yes-made mistakes,as every manager does(ask baconface) then we would still be yo-yoing between divisions.

So it's "Thanks,Kev" from me.
Apart from signing Mills,Thatcher,McMoneyman and Fowler.
;-)

LOL

Yeah I was glad we cut put all that great entertainment behind us when SP took over ;-)

I have a soft spot for KK whose heart was deffo in the right place and what a promotion season that was!

But Steve McMoneyman....
