i was listening to talk sport today and they are having a 3rd day debate about poor kevin davies, how loyal he is, how he deserves a testimonial etc. i think i must live on a different planet. he will be worth several million, has been paid to play football. Is a mediocre player and meanwhile the rest of the country slaves away for peanuts in comparison. A nurse earns in one year what poor Kevin Davies earns in week. TESTIMONIAL - IT MAKES ME WANT TO BE SICK. Footballin this country is slowly killing itself.

Did you hear Gartside on Talksport last night? Was quite interesting and he put up quite a good defence of himself (assuming we believe what he said). He stated the rules around arranging a testimonial state the club cannot be involved in teh organisation of it or be on the testimonial committee. The club have never said he can't have a testimonial. The rules (League rules, not Bolton's rules) state the player has to ask the club, not the club offer it. Gartside went onto say the 10 year entitlement is a nonsense and does not exist, citing John McGinlay getting one after 5 years at the club.

After listening to it, the best Durham could offer was that Gartside should have spoken to Davies immediately after the manager spoke to Davies out of respect.

So, if you want Kevin Davies to have a testimonial, Durham, write to Bolton (Gartside said they would have no problem whatsoever with a request for a testimonial for Davies) asking for one for him, get on the committee and get organising - put your money where your mouth is!!
