Kevin De Bruyne 2016/17

Can anyone else see Pep giving De Bruyne a go in midfield? He likes someone with a range of passing and who can split defences with balls into the strikers. Would make sure he's more involved too instead of flitting in and out of games.

He has the vision and passing range, what he doesn't have is the defensive ability, positioning or effort. Very high risk-high reward to play him in CM role opposite Gundogan. Silva would be the better option there but it would mean playing 3 at the back which would be a disaster with City's current crop of defenders + Hart.

I agree but I just had the thought after reading 'Pep Confidential' that he might try it. He is one of the more intelligent players, but like you say discipline and defensive abilities might be against him

Hang on a min Blue..take another look at my post.
Are you saying our Kompany and kdb sicken you to the core because they can,t play more than one game in a week?
There is a big difference between those who feign injury( which isn,t what my post is about, and you know it) and those footballers whose performances are reduced in quality by the non-stop fixture list which carries on throughout the year, a lot of the time carrying injury which never gets better.

Not quite sure why you,ve brought tennis to the debate...not every match goes to five sets over four hours, and rarely do players have to pay the next day..pretty irrelevant comparison really..when do tennis players get kicked on their achilles and try to battle on, or have a weak ankle targeted and have to battle on ,not many elbowed in the head/throat and have to continue or have a players studs raked down their achilles like kdb ...and thenface three months out
ive played both tennis and football for the past three decades, .. sunday morning footy, i was always relieved when the summer came and i could take up tennis as it meant a less gruelling but still enjoyable sport, and no injuries...unlike footy where you,d often be limping the next day with some injury or other. dont think tennis is a good sport to compare in the context of your view of lazy footballers...
The belguim doctor was giving an honest assesment of the physical and mental well-being of his squad. Many folk on here have said they hope kdb gets a good rest betweeen now and the start of the season..ive openly suggested i doubt he will get that..Pep our new manager, widely regarded as the best manager in world football has said to our captain, take your time, get your body right..i suppose kompany is a faker too...

Consider the real reason the euros have been pretty mediocre. too many games. safety first tactics...the sensible way to play when your players are fucked after a gruelling season, which all top european players have to undertake...that season starts again now.

we,as consumers, have THE right, if we wish, from our armchairs, to say lazy footballers, and it was different in our day...doesn,t mean to say you ARE right.

Show me were I said VK and KDB sicken me to the core ?

Next point about feigning injury was more to point out that doctors in football are hardly to be trusted with what they spout, due to the fact they go onto the pitch and tend to the fakers as if they had something wrong with them, do they have any ethics at that point ? So why should we believe this doctor saying the poor lambs are fucked because they have to play two games a week, not that many of them do play two games a week with the way squads are rotated nowadays so that is a moot point.

This Belgian doctor offering an excuse for getting knocked out by Wales a team that got that far on hard work whose players play in mostly the same leagues as the pampered Belgians ?

Tennis is an excellent comparison for fatigue purposes, if you need it explained to you why then it probably pointless continuing tbh.

Again show me were I said VK was a faker, your last post was utterly ridiculous and makes little sense to anything posted in the previous conversation, you accuse me of not reading and to take another look at your post then blatantly post a reply that shows you didn't read or understand mine.

Your right. I didn,t understand your post, and still dont.
Theissue was the belguim teams doctor saying the team were mentally and physically drained.
For some reason you implied he was not telling the truth because he and his colleagues run on with a magic sponge to treat broken legs.and that lots of players feign injuries.
Bizzare logic really .Your post was ridiculous in that for some reason you suggested the belguim team doctor was lying.or making excuses for the teams exit. Why would he do that? Is his job on the line because belguim went out to Wales? i very much doubt it.I imagine kdb was one of the players who wasn,t in tip-top condition due to his own injury problems the previous season and his adjustment to the particular physical stlye of the premier league. I only mentioned Kompany as he of course was missing from the belguim team after breaking down through injuries during the previous season. Who were you accusing of feignng injury when the discussion was about the belguims team doctors comments? is it any wonder i became confused when you claimed you were "sick to the core of players being "fakers".This is the kdb thread after all.

You then go on to make comments about pampered footballers who cant play more than one game. I made the point that the modern day player hardly gets a break -the global pre season games which start this week, leading to the premier league start in 4 weeks, the league, league cup fa cup champions league and international matches mean that many are suspectible to injuries and wear and tear.this then reduces the quality of the football we see..i likened that to the generally accepted view that the euros were poor in quality, full of teams playing a cagey, cautious style, whic h, i believe is to cover for the exhausted players who are fucked from the season before.

Its all about opinions i suppose, and i note that Louise Taylor in the todays Guardian makes exactly the same point i am making...Premeir league clubs embark on globe -trotting pre season tours, but at what cost? She mentions BFS complaining about westhams exhausting pre seaon trip to New Zealand two summers ago, Dick Advocaats moaning about Sunderland playing 3 games in 8 days in north america and canada,..she could also have mentioned LVG at utd a couple of years ago moaning about the global travel before the premiership starts. I agree with all the managers.you dont and think the players are lazy, feign injury and the belguim club doctor is lying.
Each to their own ...

Give him a central position in the side and he'll have 20 goals and 20 assists by the end of the season.
he certainly looks capable of that.
lets hope Pep gets the best out of this talented footballer next season.

I think that Sterling and Sane won't be far off in terms of numbers.
certeinly hope so re sterling, and the lad is probably under the right manager, and at the right stage of his career to have a good season and answer all the critics nationwide who make him the scapegoat for just about everything.I for one will be interested to see what posistion sterling takes up next season, and if he will play on his stronger right side..i hope so.
I know next to nothing about Sane, other than he is highly rated.Again will be fascinating to see how Pep sets up next season and if KDB can link up effectively with any new signings.
