'De Bruyne pushes for early Man City exit'

'Kevin De Bruyne could leave Manchester City before the start of the Club World Cup, reports the Daily Star.
Man City face an extended campaign as they jet off to the United States to take part in the Club World Cup, which begins on June 14.
However, De Bruyne, who admitted he was "surprised" that Man City had not offered him a new deal, is said to desire a move away from the club before the action kicks off.
De Bruyne revealed last week how City had refused to give him a new contract -and told him he was free to leave the Etihad this summer. The handling of the decision has angered De Bruyne, who is now looking for a new club.
Pep Guardiola's squad will head to the United States in June to take part in the inaugural Club World Cup. De Bruyne is obliged to go, because his current deal doesn't run out until the end of that month.
And while the tournament doesn't finish until July 13, clubs can get special dispensation to extend player deals by a further two weeks. But it's understood De Bruyne has reservations about being involved - and is keen to end his City career following the final league game of the season.
The Belgium international doesn't want to risk getting injured and ruin a move to another club. While the midfielder is also keen to take a significant break, ahead of the start of next season'.

Supposedly.

I have a sneaky suspicion that he will get offered something near the end of the season for a year with option for two on reduced wages

Maybe I’m missing something, but this sounds entirely plausible and tbh exactly what a player like Kev might be thinking along the lines of.

Any player in this situation has that choice to make, they don’t have to accept the 2 week extension and will surely be able to dictate whether they choose to be part of the CWC squad.

He can be part of the squad for the group games but I suspect he will get a suspicious injury just before then

I think the point though is that it’d be weird for a club to make a player come with the squad for that final 2 weeks if they’ve expressed a desire to not be part of the squad for the tournament.

I'd hope so I did think it was time for him to go at the end of last season, he's lost 1/2 yard of pace but now fit his class and effect he makes on a game is still there.

He wouldn't need to start on a regular basis & be used as an impact sub too.

Yeah that’s true. Is it a 32 man squad like the international WC have we even got 32 players to bring

Oh yeah I agree it sounds plausible. And the club would in no way look to push him to take part in over the two weeks he has left on his contract after 10+ years here.

But because it is plausable it is also safe speculation to make and publish by papers without any real knowledge or information.

But yeah, all will be clear closer to the time. We will hear plenty such claims before then, and just have to go with it.

When people were calling for announcements over gundo's future when he was at the end of his contract, see sometimes the silence is better as is just waiting till the time is right.

Ive said it before and i will say it again, kdb has been our best player over a large part of his time here, but the key word in that sentence is HAS, people are clinging to the performance against palace and ignoring the fact that he has been completely anonymous against the rags, everton and villa and that is the current standard he is at, he will no doubt have good games but they will be 1 in 7 to 10 and unfortunately we cannot carry that with our schedule and also with his propensity for injuries. Its amazing how much better players become when they are about to leave city isnt it, IF he had stayed the press would have been slagging us for being too sentimental, keeping players who are past their best etc etc, now he is going, he can still do a job anywhere in the world, is it a mistake etc etc, dont listen to the press or watch with sentiment, watch with your eyes and realise what he was before isnt what he is now.

With both Bernie and Gundo having a further 12 months left in their respective deals there is no way we could risk offering Kev an extension and ending up with all 3 of the older guys being here next season. Equally, we could hardly turn round to Kev and say, listen mate can you hang fire and if one or both of Bernie or Gundo leave then maybe we can sort a deal out for you, lol. Just not feasible.

Suppose, there is an exceptionally slim chance that say for example both Bernie and Gundo leave that we may, if Kev hasn’t already boxed off a new club, attempt to get him on a deal. As I say, highly unlikely though to happen.

If, being thr key word there.

Love him but it’s time kdb and a few others left. If anything the mistake is that he should have left last summer. The team is crying out for youth. It’s the one thing Kev can’t do.

Personally I would love to see him stay but I can understand that decisions have to be made and made in the best interest of the club not any one player.

He is saying goodbye properly on the pitch. I know he is pissed but these performances have been missing for nearly two seasons and he is still way below his best.

Whats the point waiting for another season? His age and injury issues won’t just stop. Kicking the can down the road with an extension.
