Kevin Pietersen sacked

I normally hate Piers Morgan but I hate to say I'm agreeing with a lot of what he is saying on Twitter. Pietersen was supposedly sacked so England could look to the future but that's complete bollocks as how come Prior, Anderson and the other ageing players have not been dumped to make way for the kids? And I'd also understand if there was a batsman who was even half as talented as Pietersen trying to break into the team but there really isn't so who the fuck is going to replace him as well. This all stinks of Cook being a fanny who didn't like having his shite captaincy questioned by a guy who knows more about it than he does so went crying to the ECB to have him removed from the team. They can't even use the divisive stuff as Swann himself said he had been much better since being reintroduced into the team. And the fact the ECB are not even giving examples of why Pietersen had to go shows this as one big conspiracy to get rid of a player who didn't toe the ECB yes man line.

It really doesn't.

At the end of the day if KP is a divisive figure in the dressing room he has to go or you have to get rid of the group of players who can't work with him. The decision has been made time to move on. If you judge a man by the company he keeps Piers cunting Morgan is doing KP no favours.

So the likes of Chris Gayle, Shane Warne, Darren Gough, Mark Boucher, Scott Styris, Damien Martyn and probably more have criticised the decision - these are/were great world cricketers - Morgan is a twat but on this occasion - I agree with him but I am hoping KP is not giving away details from the dressing room as that is bang out of order

There's a bit on it in The Telegraph. Here:

Kevin Pietersen did nothing to warrant being dropped by England, says former spinner Graeme Swann

Former England spinner says he was "not a fan" of Pietersen during 2012 Textgate scandal but the batsman made a "huge effort to improve his attitude" on his return

Graeme Swann admits he was "baffled" by England's decision to dump Kevin Pietersen and says he witnessed nothing on the Australia tour to indicate why the superstar batsman has been cast aside now.

Pietersen's international career was effectively brought to a close on Tuesday night when he was omitted from the upcoming tour of the Caribbean and ICC World Twenty20, with the 33-year-old all but conceding in a joint statement that it was the end of the line for him with England.

ECB's platitudes tell you everything you need to know about why a maverick like Kevin Pietersen was sacked
The England and Wales Cricket Board's decision has come in for plenty of criticism, with many pundits and ex-players also calling for an explanation as to why the country's record runscorer across all formats will no longer be part of the team.

Swann, who retired from all cricket midway through England's nightmare tour Down Under, is unable to shed any light on the matter either and admits he cannot understand why Pietersen has been jettisoned now, after seeing what he felt was an improved attitude from the controversial batsman since his 'reintegration' back into the squad.

Pietersen was dropped from the side in the summer of 2012 after sending provocative text messages about then captain Andrew Strauss to South African players.

Writing in his column in The Sun, Swann said: "I'll be honest about Kevin Pietersen - myself and several other England players were not exactly members of his fan club during the Textgate scandal of 2012.

"But I changed my opinion of him once he was reintegrated back into the England team towards the end of that year.

"He made a huge effort to improve his attitude around the dressing room. I saw or heard no issues with him in Australia this winter, his approach was exceptional.

"That's why I was baffled on Tuesday when he was effectively sacked as an England player."

The former spinner added: "Looking back, I could understand if Kevin's career with England had finished after Textgate. But to go through the reintegration process and then, just 15 months later, discard him for good seems very strange.

"Clearly, Kevin must have upset people enough for the England hierarchy to decide he is no longer wanted. Don't forget we're not talking about a middling player here - we're talking about a batsman of sublime talent.

"As I say, I saw nothing while I was on the Ashes tour. His approach was spot-on.

"Until the powers that be shed some light on the situation we are left only with conjecture and rumour.

"I'm sure every cricket fan would like to know more detail because Kevin is the player more than any other who puts bums on seats. Let's hear the truth so all the speculation disappears."

it does all give me the feeling that in 2 or 3 years we'll hear a lot of shit about it but everyone's just papering over it for now.

If KP was as on side and involved as some people are making out then the ECB would have had to have gone the other way with the decision and give him more responsibility, unless Cook has got rid of him because he sees him as a threat to his position in the team because the only reason you'd keep Cook on is because he's captain, certainly not because of his form or performances.

I don't think it would be that petty so I think there has to have been reasons and they'll come out eventually.

He clearly is, there's no way any of the others are thick enough to give the **** the info. The ECB haven't given their reasons as it's just unprofessional to badmouth former employees. I suspect the story the Telegraph ran with last night is close to the truth of what went on but we'll never really know,

A sadder indictment of the state of English cricket is that Jade Dernbach has once again made a squad. As it was put on the BBC live text the other day, he has a lot of variations of how the ball ends up in the crowd.

Bin the lot - send the ladies :)
