Kevin Pietersen sacked

Cheers for putting that up Waspish. Much ado about nothing and still the same old robotic 'exclusives'. Still, it is interesting to see that Swann thought KP behaved perfectly well in Oz, so we're still guessing.

Looks like KP might well have a book out in October, will be a very interesting read.

Bravo Andrew Flintoff

no chance of the ECB reinstating KP? the public and media might force their hand it will take a brave and strong organization to stick to their decision.

I'd make him captain if he came back.

For KP to come back it would mean the new coach would want him to be part of the team. But the ECB's plan is to hire a yes man like Giles who will do as they say. So I highly doubt we will see KP bat for England again unless we take a proper dicking in the next few series and they have no other choice but to.

I've lost respect for Giles, he seems to be taking it up the ass from the ECB.

This whole saga is a mess. The statement from the ECB tonight is just ludicrous; they are aiming it at Piers Morgan ffs!

A sad, sorry state of affairs. Alistair Cook has won this battle now but he will not win any war. England are looking at a new opener, no.3, no.4, possibly no.6, wk, a spinner and two new seamers. That is not transition it's revolution but Cook has backed himself into a corner. He's an idiot if he thinks a 'holistic' dressing room is going to do anything for England at this point. There is now going to be so much pressure on England to perform in the next two or three series, something that their ability might not allow, or Cook is in big trouble, especially if his own form continues to be so crap.

They have to play Sri Lanka and India this summer, if they don't win either of those it could be 2-3 years before England win a series again with South Africa and Australia on the horizon.

Welcome to the 90's English cricket team. Lots of love, the incompetent ECB.

I don't disagree per se, but those issues pretty much stand with or without KP and if they think they can make the other 10 better because he's not there then that's their call.

Well it would take away the need for a no.4 batsmen; the most important and best player in the team usually.

feels like their reasoning was based on Piers Morgan this week, when during the Ashes apart from him baiting Warney I didn't notice the media making a fuss of him, thus I can't see how KP leaks were that much of an issue?

That's clearly what they're suggesting though, that he's been leaking stuff and a few players weren't happy, but then again, without actual evidence that could just be them using it as an excuse, especially as 1 or 2 in that dressing room may feel getting rid of KP means they'll be kept on (not that I'm cynical), I'm sure they have their proof though.

It almost feels like they're punishing him again for text gate because some people haven't forgiven him and want to boost their own status.

But like I said, they must have their evidence.

Piers Morgan is a smarmy bugger and needs to be brought down a peg or two.
