Key Bridge, Baltimore, has collapsed.

What a tragedy, and an avoidable one at that. Just heard that they've called off search for survivors and it's now a recovery mission going forward. Terrible.

There’s no way that bridge is finished by November, but “being seen to be doing” is important and people seeing the bridge being rebuilt is probably sufficient.

Assuming people died in this accident, it’d be hard to use it as the backdrop for a campaign rally…at least by Biden.

Trump knows no shame, so he’d be out there today talking about how shithole foreigners on a shithole foreign ship going to some shithole foreign country have hit our beautiful Francis Scott Key (look him up!!) Bridge, but he is going to rebuild it bigger, better and more beautiful, because nobody knows construction better than he knows construction!
Re: Francis Scott Key, taken from Wikipedia,

At the time of his death he owned eight human beings. !!

They did, pointed them out on the news earlier, the are the small white circular things either side of the pillars, unfortunately the ship missed them and struck the pillar
Thanks for that and they did have those protectors which proved completely inadequate.

They should in such a busy shipping channel had something far more substantial:

Why don't the build a tunnel done seem that long a span
I've been through the Fort McHenry tunnel whilst on the interstate-95 which is much further up the channel from that bridge, they also have the Harbor tunnel as part of i-895.

The Port Sector used to be cutthroat, there will be some short term disruption but the bigger ports will gladly take up the slack. Tommy may get his job back.
The biggest issue is that Baltimore is the largest port for automobile shipments and the others that can accommodate auto freight are much smaller (namely Savannah, Georgia).

There will obviously be knockon effects across supply chains but that will likely be the sector experiencing the most impacts (both in delays and cost increases).

They may do but this will have a ripple effect as those ports become congested. Then it becomes a shit show.

No shithole foreigners responsible, local pilots are used to navigate the ships in and out of the harbour
