Khaldoon's End of Season Review 2025

Agree entirely.

For f*cks sake, I remember us having Swales in his broad check jacket, sta-prest action slacks and combover, pointing his rolled-up Saturday evening 'Pink' at Malcolm Allison after we'd been thrashed at home 0-4 by the Scouse Red Filth saying 'You know who could do a job for us..'

That was the f*cking level of management we had for generations.. clueless, all blazer badge and no trophies.

Since 2008 we've been blessed with 'grown ups' in charge in the room. Let them get on with it. They know what they're doing. They won't always get it right but, my stars!, they will 90% of the time. We are and we have been so fortunate for the past 17 years. And, for sure, there's yet more to come. So let Khaldoon et al crack on with the next phase..
There are a sizeable minority in here who genuinely prefer ‘that’ City and the utter national laughing stock they - and we - were.
Not because they are closet rags, they’re not, but because they are of that disposition that just likes things being shit so they can have a perpetual moan and groan. They just truthfully get off on being unhappy and curmudgeons.
Being a blue in the 80’s and 90’s was a badge of honour. One, those of us who were there, can, and do, still wear with pride. Some people are unable to get past that sense of pride in supporting a club that gave us nothing but heartache
They hit their nirvana after the takeover when Mark Hughes was in charge. Here we were, with all the money in the world, and flirting with relegation. It was the most typical ‘typical City’ thing ever. Life didn’t get any better. They loved him.

Then we sacked him for being a wanker and in came Mancini and the story began.

They hated Mancini. Despised him. He tore down the banner and brought the good times.
He had to be hounded out.

Pellers brought a very brief hope of a return to the “cool days” but nope, he only went and won a double in his first season. The fucking corpse. He had to go too. He was hounded out and castigated in ways that still make me sick to my stomach, and always will.

Pep got a reprieve for a few years as nobody could genuinely pretend not to be impressed by the greatest manager in the world. And he was, and is, cool as cheese too so there was that. A bit of reflected glory and things settled down. For a year or three it was possible to be happy we were winning and still retain reflected cool points.
Then we won a treble and the murmurs about Pep began in earnest.
You can read it in any match day thread from this season.

Now they’re turning on the greatest chairman in the league. A man who has given us memories no football fan has any right to expect. And on the club.

Twas ever thus.

Rags have called us Berties for years. Caricatured us as being twisted, unhappy, bitter, and full of rage at the world.
Some in here just like acting up to that caricature.
It’s like extreme Stockholm syndrome and it ain’t changing any time soon.

Ignore them. Enjoy the greatest period in our history and the greatest ownership model in the whole world of sport.
Leave them to their bitter, inane, childish ramblings and their misery.

They’ll explode in rage and disappointment when we win the 115.

I can’t wait.

Entirely possible I suppose but he did have something to day about it at the conclusion of last year's address to the blue faithful. No reference at all this time would be unsettling.

How he answered it last year tells me he won't say anything till the verdict

Used to be the Football Green
Yup.. that was the 'Manchester Chronicle' version of the 'Evening News Pink'.. my Old Man used to sell the 'Green' standing at the corner of Lloyd Street and Boundary Lane in the 1930s.. with his pal from Hulme, Jimmy Mylchreest, they'd leave Maine Road about 10mins before the end (early leavers..ffs!) and run down to the Chronicle print works on Boundary Lane to pick up their papers ready to sell the final scores to the crowd heading towards town.. Eeee, 'appy days!

Remember that it was 2023 that was
He referred to the charges again last year and I'm pretty sure he will have something to say this time round.

WHAT AL MUBARAK SAID IN 23/24 ABOUT 115
"Of course, it’s frustrating. I think the referencing is always frustrating. Having it being talked about the way it’s being talked about. I can feel for our fanbase, and everyone associated with the club, to have these charges constantly referenced," he said. "I think we as a club have to respect that there is a process that we have to go through, and we’re going through it. It’s taking longer than what anyone hoped for, but it is what it is, and I’ve always repeated, let’s be judged by the facts, and not by claims and counterclaims."

Still think the silence is about to be broken with a huge blue BOOM that will blow the PL to bits.

I sometimes refer to these as "The Maine Road Massive" in an affectionate way.

I don't think your idea that these people "preferred" being shit is really accurate. There's just an element of nostalgia in a lot of society now to back when things were a bit simpler and this seems to play a large part in it. Also, football tribalism has a lot of pretentiousness about "authenticity" in it and it does seem more authentic to be a fan of an unsuccessful club. I get asked innocuously by people if I'm a "proper City fan". By that they mean pre-takeover. The phobia of the gloryhunter runs deep within the football fan psyche.

One of the interesting things about being a mod on here is that the mods tend to try and get to know posters personalities a bit in order to try and moderate them better. Doesn't always work obviously but there's usually an attempt made to read back through their posts when something gets flagged up and see what they're like. There's people who have been on this forum for 10 years plus who are, well, just pretty negative and pessimistic towards everything to do with City no matter if we're winning Trebles or fighting relegation - it's not them trolling or anything, it's just how their outlook on life is. One such poster I remember posted the hours after the Istanbul final that they felt sadness because they thought their support had "peaked" and we would never achieve that again. It's a fair opinion, but it's an odd one after the greatest moment in our club's history instead of wild celebration. Some people are just built to look at us pessimistically. They're not cunts, it's just how they are. Expect the worst and hope for the best isn't a dumb thing when so much passion is involved.

That combover is fucking ace.

Imagine if you had one now and brought it back into fashion.

You'd be a fanny magnet.
I thought it had been back in fashion for some time now?! Ever since the Orange Man-Child first got into the White House?!

I remember the 'Million Man March' and Civil Rights protests of the 60s.. we've gone from 'We shall overcome' to 'We shall overcomb' since President Wiggy Bone-Spurs took power..!

Everybody on here understands that Khaldoon can't talk directly about where the 115 is, I hope. I wouldn't expect him to talk about match day seat prices, or something as specific as the ten-game attendance requirement on season tickets (which has led me to give up mine, with a very heavy heart, be it said). I was a bit disappointed that he didn't talk about the North Stand expansion and the overall vision for it (although that's being dealt with at a lower level by City Matters and 1894 and suchlike, and very good work they're doing too, keep it up guys).
All the questions put to him in these end-of-season dos are of course prepared, discussed and rehearsed. If you feel it's a bit soporific every season well, it's simple really — don't watch it.

All the studies show it - a miserable person who wins the lottery just becomes a miserable rich person.
